Also a factor that I didn't add was that it depends on your location. If you're in a LA County Jail for a year, it could be worse.

how much do I hypothetically have, before losing 500k? and is it liquid assets, or is it large materials like houses/buildings.?
a year in a jail isn't really that bad, but if I had millions and it was 500k to stay outta jail, I'd just give up the money.

What if I decide to stay in Jail for 1 year, would I receive a cheque for 500k? If so, sign me up! I will get in shape fast, learn to make prison shanks, and get paid a cold hard 500k all the same time. Now that's what I'm talking about!

Why does your financial status have to change? All things being equal, could you weather a financial setback of 500k in your current state? I believe that was the question. Most people don't bounce back from that easily which is meant to be the point of the exercise.

The choice is between losing 500k and going to jail. Nowhere does it say you can receive 500k from going to jail lmao.

500k is a shit load of money. You would spend years paying that off. I would probably rather go to jail, but some minimum/medium security one. Fuck maximum security that would suck.

in my current state.. sure why not.
I have mayb 6k to my name total.. so I could stand to lose 500k no problem.
the debt would just be debt, it'd never get paid.
would rather be 494k in debt with nothing than be in jail for a year personally.

Yea, 500k is a lot of cash, But I'd get murdered in jail.. I'll just take the L on this one and lose the 500k.
