Omniscient has previously said that he thought about implementing this...Not sure why you guys are hating on the idea.

I'd agree with this. I have a feeling that a percentage of users only ever use the marketplace and don't see a point in upgrading.

I am more of an advocate for personal responsibility in this case. As far as I know new users are automatically messaged warning them to be careful about who they deal with in the marketplace.

I was thinking what if the marketplace (With the exception of the general discussion, appraisals, and a few others) was completely for premium users only?

I think it'd cut down on new non-premium members being targetted for scamming. The thing is the specific sections would have to be 100% non-accessible for normal members to look at.

Thoughts?

I don't agree with the reasoning.
People are going to get scammed regardless of whether they're VIP or not. People are going to scam regardless of whether they're VIP or not. Blocking people who don't want to pay for ub3r or l33t or whatever I don't agree with. Not everyone has the money, thats why they're there buying ebooks to make money.
Obviously.

Also, some very good sellers are non premium.

What stops a non-upgraded user from whispering someone selling something?

shut up, don't talk to mark like that

no

probably 70% of purchases are from non upgraded

Horrible idea, you may as well say there should be a fee to access the marketplace, and that'd only be worth it if staff actually got involved which they won't, meaning you're paying to also have the possibility of still being scammed. You can't make everyone in the world smart and scammers exploit the dumb.

* - OliFlaw - Mar 28, 2017

I do not think this would make a difference to the amount of scamming taking place in my opinion.

You would quite like that wouldn't you.

* - oop - Mar 28, 2017

scamming will always occur, you would only achieve limiting sales for people.

Don't think this will accomplish anything, and it will make it seem like Omni is forcing the upgrade to use the forum. And I don't believe omni wants that direction for this forum.

Plus, most of the big scams are by upgraded members anyway, who put bunch of money in to look trustworthy, and then do an exit scam. Almost everyone knows this.

* - G*59 - Mar 28, 2017

Ub3rs scam quite often, I don't see this solving anything. Plus there won't be anyone to buy peoples shitty ebooks.

* - LaFerrari - Mar 28, 2017

I can tell you don't run any services or sell any products on the HF marketplace
It would hurt sales

* - Ubers - Mar 28, 2017

There have been multiple cases where upgraded members have been reported for scamming, mostly in CE section. Best part is that only upgraded people can make thread there.
I have traded with Neat multiple times and my trades were awesome asf. Yet, I see people getting scammed by upgraded users in the same section.

Ebook section is filled with stickies and upgraded members and considering them trustworthy non-upgraded/new-users buy EBOOKS with "No Refund Package". End result of those ebooks are nothing but disappointment.

And what is your point? Are you surprised that dbooks are junk?

I think that it would be stupid to take away the Marketplace from non-upgraded members, that means that if they purchase a product and it's faulty they have no way to contact the seller of the product via the thread in order to try find a solution.

There may also be a lot of HQ products that non-upgraded members want to sell to users and not be able to because of this. I think it's fine the way it is.
