Maybe this is stupid, maybe it isn't, I quite like the idea.
I was thinking what if the marketplace (With the exception of the general discussion, appraisals, and a few others) was completely for premium users only?
I think it'd cut down on new non-premium members being targetted for scamming. The thing is the specific sections would have to be 100% non-accessible for normal members to look at.
Thoughts?
The scamming won't stop. Seen this suggested before.
Also thinking about how it may diminish some of the upgrade counterparts.

I might be wrong but I guess that the people that buy ebooks and stuff are non upgraded members.
Btw. I do not sell eBooks and I do not know if they are worth it.

Don't even get me started on ebooks. Those should be completely banned here anyway lol

Hack Forum's marketplace is stronger than so many other's. This would risk the greatness of it. Just my opinion.
Do you mean regular members couldn't post or view the threads in the marketplace at all? Or they just couldn't sell?
If you are thinking of the former I think that's been asked about to Omniscient before and he's said he wont do it because it would largely impact HF sellers (believe it or not I think regular members buy the most products).
The latter on the other hand I don't think is that bad of an idea as it would prevent some scamming but honestly I think features like the TRUST SCAN and GAUTH have prevented many scams and do the job nicely... I'm unsure if this is true but I think there are less scams now than there were at one time.
Nowadays? I'm just here for the nostalgia.

Methinks this would have too big of a negative impact on sellers because I'm willing to bet more than half of the customers are regular members.
If anything this will prevent normal users from raising awareness on a sales thread when they get scammed.
Suggestions that remove portions of the site or it's functionality for certain usergroups will not be taken.

8. Member Restrictions. HF will not be taking suggestions for new restrictions on the site based on post count, registration date, or reputation.

Ub3r support?
If anything premium members are more likely to scam as they look more reputable. I don't think this is a good idea at all as it won't change anything and just limits us non-upgraded members even more.
Upgrades really mean nothing. In my experience, I receive the most chargebacks from upgraded members not nobodies.

Restrict the majority of victims from the marketplace and leave a good portion of the scammers to browse it freely. That's all I could understand from your post.
