As I have said. My screen has been smashed for years. All I know is that it isn't getting to the windows login. My monitor will usually pick up my laptop at that stage which is how I know.

Hi, it is hard to say what is happening when I don't know where computer crash. I have few scenarios in my mind which one describe your situation?
1. Computer fails to boot before BIOS loading. BIOS menu can't be accessed. (Probably hardware fail)
2. BIOS fails to boot windows. The computer doesn't show more than BIOS message probably something like "No bootable system found".
3. Windows crashes when tryies to load some crucial module. Still, should give an error message.
If nothing parse with your situation please give me more precise message.

Check if your hdd or ssd comes up in the boot options if not its a corrupt device or if it does and just doesnt work then its a corrupt windows installation so just mount the windows install tool to a usb and reinstall

Hello my friend. You can try to use usb boot (ask your friend to burn ubuntu iso to flashdisk) and access your disk inside of ubuntu and check whats wrong with your computer.
