Most people are looking at long-term.. if you look at longterm look at the united states they are doing the stimulus so that people can atleast survive for now.. but after this their going to have to do actions that provoke economic activity. Your making assumptions and yes... if you can't survive sell the stocks if you have the money than hold.

If you have only invested in the last year or two, then stop talking shit about investing for the long term. You bought the top of the bubble, and you will NEVER EVER breakeven in the next 10-30 years(adjusted for inflation)

We are in a consumer-based economy and EVERYTHING consumer based is fugging SHUTTING DOWN.

RESTAURANTS DEAD
PUBS DEAD
AVIATION DEAD
TRAVELLING DEAD
TOURISM DEAD
CRUISESHIPS DEAD
SHOPPING DEAD

This is basically a collapse of the global economy. I think a 80% drop will be justified. If you are unfortunate enough to be holding stocks, i'd sell going into the new quarter. You might be lucky and we could still pump for the next few days.

The supermarkets and Amazon are running out of toilet paper. Don't forget to mention companies that capitalizing from the Coronavirus.

Careful, i got bitten for doing some puts (partially cause I held too long).

10/10 wouldn't recommend $SPY options unless you have a high risk tolerance 😆

Stock market averages 7% gains, some years -15 some years +22. Average return is 7% on your money. We are in a recession not a depression don't get it twisted.

I wouldn't recommend puts right now either. Because if we ever pump, we will do so in the next 2 days. Market does look short term bottomish.

Just avoid trading in general, because it really requires tremendous skill and strict risk management.

If you don't know what you are doing, don't trade real money because i guarantee you, you are going to lose over the long term. It takes 3-5years of full time and 10,000hours+ to become profitable. Just how it is.

The fact that all of you are buying right now, while we are on the verge of a global collapse just proves my point. We are in a bubble and that coronavirus just popped it. We can only deflate from there.

Don't buy Clay Davis. There might be bounces, but those are just bull traps.

Buy Puts!

For 30 years - you on crack?

That would be an unprecedented event. Do you know how royally fucked the world economy would be if that was to happen? I'm not an economics student, I'm a political economy student so I won't argue you on whether your numbers are realistic. However, if things went that bad, people wouldn't be thinking about their portfolio, the whole world economy would be failing.

Anyway, it's probably 35 years until I'll wanna sell my portfolio, maybe 40.

You're also not factoring in dividends or the fact people will consistently invest, not just invest now and then never again.

Don't hit me with that BS that because I haven't been investing in a long time I'm not going to be a long term investor. I watched my stocks drop without flinching. It's where I save my money. I don't need that money right now. I'll build my portfolio to a level that pays all my expenses with dividends regardless of market volatility.

With cases not even peaking yet and panic not setting in, it would be more sensible to begin buying lightly and start averaging down.
