It is not a good time to invest "for the long term" after stocks have gone up a x100 during a 10year historical bull market. It's over. Average bull run lasts 3 years, and this one has been over-extended, standing at 10-yrs.
The fact that all of you are buying right now, while we are on the verge of a global collapse just proves my point. We are in a bubble and that coronavirus just popped it. We can only deflate from there.
Don't buy shit. There might be bounces, but those are just bull traps.

I strongly disagree, why would you not invest long term on this great time in the market to buy.
EVEN if what you say is true, why are you scared of investing your DOLLARS? Because if the market dies and all my money goes to 0 I don't need DOLLARS anymore anyways I need goats, to trade, or toilet paper.
There are also tons of great long-term investments. (unless you believe the market is done forever and the US Dollar will disappear. I guess.)
But this post is a fair point to make people think, I stated my opinions just like he has stated his. Everyone should do their own research, and act accordingly off what they find out and what they believe.

Seconding this. Many stocks are only back to their 2016-2018 levels. Hardly a dent in the long term. We could drop another 50% and still have no issue in the long term.
Most ignorant, short-term minded post I've seen LOL. Long term investing is called long term for a reason. I'm not expecting a come back within a few months, I'm buying even more right now to help average the cost from earlier investments. There's no reason long term investors can't begin to recover losses during this period and accelerate future gains.
buy puts then :D great post btw
Since your OP, made enough. Strongly disagree with your points.
SPX could go to 1500 and possibly under 1000. Russell likely to hit 500.
Shit will hit the fan in USA in April and May.
If we are to get relief, it will be a violent rally in this and beginning of next week going into new quarter, after that, expect nothing but down.
Most of the stocks will never reach their highs again. Certainly not in this decade. Perhaps never.

Any stock COULD go to any price, at any time. I'm confused.
History repeats itself, stocks go down, have a few rough years. Magically almost like clockwork stocks go back up, reach new highs. Then rinse. Then repeat.
If you do believe this though, you want to transfer me your stocks in your portfolio? If you have any since I guess they are useless now in your eyes? I will gladly take.

You are being dumped on. Stocks are worthless pieces of paper, you just don't know it yet.
Price is determined by supply and demand and demand is going to die out. Every single poster on here is buying, yet the market dropped 30%. Who the fuck do you think is selling? Magic fairy? Nope, it's the banks, instutions and every single fucker out there that bought 10 years ago and can't believe now that he is selling it to moms, pops and millenials robinhood investors at x100 the mark-up. AHAHA.
Stock market is a suckers game.
It doesn't work that way with stocks. The company keeps growing on the long term.

Pure delusion. Classical bubble.
You should re-read what you posted, perhaps even screenshot and save it somewhere for later on.
"I just want everyone to make money". Think about what you said and if it makes sense. There's no free lunch.
I am just trying to warn everybody, i had posted before that a 30% crash would come in 2020, i thought it was going to be due to Boeing, presidential elections or something like that, but i have not imagine a fucking epidemic in my worst nightmare. I am calling a 80% crash from top to bottom now.

Lmfao.
Somebody’s letting a market correction get them antsy. The US stock market has had 47 recessions and has rebounded 100% of the time. You really wanna bet against 100%? Be my guest.
And what’s your reasoning for this 80% drop? Is it that you feel corporate debt is too high and companies will start defaulting? Or is it because you just feel your intuition striking up?
I actually think sometime soon is a great time to invest. The market has dropped significantly and as history shows it will eventually rebound and recover. Investing is a long term process anyway, not a get rich quick scheme.
Oh gosh, the amount of ignorance.
We are in a consumer-based economy and EVERYTHING consumer based is FUCKING SHUTTING DOWN.
RESTAURANTS DEAD
PUBS DEAD
AVIATION DEAD
TRAVELLING DEAD
TOURISM DEAD
CRUISESHIPS DEAD
SHOPPING DEAD
This is basically a collapse of the global economy. I think a 80% drop will be justified. If you are unfortunate enough to be holding stocks, i'd sell going into the new quarter. You might be lucky and we could still pump for the next few days.
