RE: My Chipotle Addiction (My Strange Addiction) - Rionxee - Apr 17, 2022 It's a bit normal, my friends that worked in fast food developed a taste for it even when they were not working and stopped working at those places in high school. I think it's normal to develop food cravings in an environment like that since everything is built to make you want it. Chipotle isn't too bad though, could be worse like you were addicted to taco bell. RE: My Chipotle Addiction (My Strange Addiction) - Psinetic - Apr 17, 2022 You might be able to have your bank block purchases from Chipolte. Just a thought. My point still remains, addiction cannot be proven to exist. If you have proof post it here: https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=6173939 RE: My Chipotle Addiction (My Strange Addiction) - Psinetic - Apr 17, 2022 (Apr 17, 2022 10:12 PM)Cuthbert Wrote: My point still remains, addiction cannot be proven to exist. I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with you there. As a recovering addict (unnamed addiction) I can confirm without a doubt, there's absolutely nothing about "wanting" it. You can't say I want something when I'm literally contemplating suicide because I can't STOP doing it. When you aren't in control, you AREN'T in control. Now, is his addiction to Chipolte really a valid "addiction"? Probably not. Buuuuut, let's not go around telling other people their mental health isn't real, it's not really a Christian thing to do or say (this coming from a Christian also). You throw away everything you said earlier about thinking critically, "even if it disagrees with your personal beliefs," in a matter of seconds when it strikes an emotional nerve with you. It's Christian not to lie and to believe in free will. Addiction presumes the person hasn't got any free will in the matter. Your personal experience isn't proof. If you have objective proof for addiction, post in the thread. It's a satirical post since it was my 2000th post on HF, it wasn't meant to be taken serious, although I do love Chipotle. Now please, take your happy ass back to SRPP and keep seeing how low you can get your popularity. RE: My Chipotle Addiction (My Strange Addiction) - bevc - Apr 17, 2022 You'll just have to go cold turkey. (haha). It has little to do with taking the Bible word for word. Free will is essential to any genuine Christian. The concept of addiction contradicts free will, and there is no proof for its existence. If I wanted a debate I would've gone to SRPP. All I see are more assertions and assumptions that it exists. Keep in mind changes in the brain are a correlation often caused by drug damage. This is not causative proof of "addiction". Swearing is not Christian behaviour. Try the book The Biology of Desire: Why Addiction Is Not a Disease by Neuroscientist Marc Lewis. The burden of proof is on those claiming it exists. The evidence for addiction doesn't stand up to logic. Also, https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3314045/ |
