* - Clique - Oct 9, 2014 I don't have any cryptocurrency and it'd be a hassle to get some in order to upgrade. * - SIM-2090815 - Oct 9, 2014 I would see the currency exchange section prodcing higher rates if this was to happen, personally i would not like the site to go full BTC * - eiqht - Oct 9, 2014 I think you should provide a smooth transition to it, don't just rush it. Make it aware to other users and make sure most of HF understands so it doesn't come off as a surprise. * - 630 - Oct 9, 2014 I don't like using BTC and I see a few downsides to this. A lot of people who join don't have any idea about crypto currency and would need to exchange for it on site. This would lead to a lot of BTC scams. People will start having to go through various upgrade shops in order to get their l33t and for a lot of people through upgrade shops. New members and PayPal often times don't mix so that would put the exchangers at risk. The anonymity would make it easier for multis to upgrade and blend back into the community. If I had no knowledge of BTC I would personally leave the site or stay as a non-upgraded member until I figure out what BTC is. In the long run it's your site and you will do what you want. I see it decreasing the amount of upgrades, increasing in member scams, and increasing in multi accounts. If I wasn't upgraded already with the knowledge that I know I'd be so against this. * - Mr. Lahey - Oct 9, 2014 I like it, however this could potentially open a much larger gate for scammers in the currency exchange section * - Meow - Oct 9, 2014 Some members don't know how to use BTC and they only use PP,if you can keep it that you can upgrade with PayPal AND BTC and would be awesome. * - Arctic Wolf - Oct 9, 2014 (Oct 9, 2014 10:13 AM)Meow. Give people the option of either PP or BTC as a lot of other people said in the thread. I didn't even know what BTC was before I joined this forum. I bought in around 2012 dec but I think BTC only is a bad idea. Is there anything you can do with PP and kids reversing transactions? * - Tomb Raider - Oct 9, 2014 I guess for us members who have already upgraded we are fine for it to happen but in terms of new comers I think they are least likely to upgrade. They would have to get BTC and in order for them to buy it they turn to the marketplace and need either to be upgraded or have some form of green rep to come across as trustworthy. I think you should accept it for those who have BTC but keep the regular payment as well. Just my opinion though 🤝 * - Dex - Oct 9, 2014 Considering I don't trust any of these HF kids and their 20% exchange rates, besides LocalBitcoins which is down right now, I have no way of getting it. I don't think it would be a good move. * - Sucker for pain - Oct 9, 2014 errm, its not a bad idea, but some users who want to buy BTC to purchase l33t or anyone can get scammed in process of trying to buy BTC for an upgrade. * - 'Psyduck - Oct 9, 2014 I've been thinking about this for a long time. Paypal is being a pain in the ass to me, so I think bitcoin would be much better. I would be so thankful if this happend. * - Paathurnax - Oct 9, 2014 In theory it seems like a good idea. But acquiring bitcoin might be difficult for some members. It also opens more opportunities for members being scammed. Because if they decide to buy $20 BTC form the marketplace then they run the risk of losing their money completely. * - Viral Dragon - Oct 9, 2014 Omni, For L33t, I think this would be good. For Ub3r, I don't think it'd be a good idea. I like the idea of anonymity and people's personal info not getting out there. But 100% BTC means having to get money exchanged and exchanging costs money. There's also things like losing your wallet, trying to recover an account but not remember the BTC details anymore or anything. Plus, BTC fluctuates constantly - coupled with BTC exchange fees... I could see it being problematic for others. But in terms of scammers, spammers, and multis who register, upgrade immediately just to do whatever, and then get banned in a couple hours - it'd prevent the charge backing. Nor would you have to deal with Paypal's new 180 chargeback rule. I'm a split on this. But overall... I don't think 100% BTC is a good idea, at least, not yet. -Viral. * - 'Psyduck - Oct 9, 2014 (Oct 9, 2014 10:16 AM)Tomb Raider Wrote: I guess for us members who have already upgraded we are fine for it to happen but in terms of new comers I think they are least likely to upgrade. This is a very good point! Accept both types of payments would be awesome. |
