Quite obviously I'd go down to this persons house and knock on their door to sort the issue out. I aint getting scammed for 1k and not doing anything knowing they are down the street from me.

Obviously, you want to hear one out of the box answer, so I won't give you one.
First, I'd knock on his door, and ask him for my money back. More than likely he'd say no, so then I'd just simply call up the police and file a report.
It's as simple as that.

In that case, your plan would go sideways.
The scammer could easily file a police report, and instead of him doing something wrong, you would be in the wrong as well.

I'm honestly curious on how you'd go about this, esp if scammed on hf. I can't imagine the police giving a fuck about a situation like this. The only realistic actions would be taking action in person or letting it go.

I would contact him through the internet, won't tell him that I know where he lives, if he refuses to refund me I probably call the police and tell the police where he lives and he will get a surprise visit

I know, I was thinking this myself. Anyone who says that is lying. If the scammer was some tall dude with a beard and muscles bigger than a horse on steroids, there aint no way anyone on here is gonna face up to that guy.
