Step #1

Open up photoshop CS6

Create a new canvas with the width at 650 and height at 200

choose a color you like and press Ctrl+Backspace (Windows)/Command+Delete (Mac)



Step #4

Click "T" to use the text tool and type whatever you like!



Step #5

Right click on the rectangle tool and choose "Line tool"
Then draw a simple (somewhat thick) line at the start of the text (Where you want the animation to begin)

Now play with the effects a bit to make the line glow by right clicking the layer and seleting "Blending options..."

Now, Make sure you have the "Timeline" window open, If it isn't open or you can't see it go to the Window->Timeline. Then you should see it. Click on "Create video timeline" and then you should see this.

Click on the icon at the bottom left of the timeline that looks like 3 squares

Now duplicate the layer in the timeline window by clicking this icon

<In the timeline window> Click the 2nd layer (The one you just made) and drag your line to the place that you want the animation to end



Step #11

Hold down Ctrl (Windows) or Cmd (Mac) and click both layers in the timeline then change the delay to 0 seconds (No Delay) and change the repeat rate to "Forever" (Do NOT unselect the layers yet)

While you still have both layers selected in the timeline click on the shape layer (Your line layer) in the actual "Layers" tab and then click Ctrl+Alt+G (Windows) or Cmd+Opt+G (Mac) which will make it have a text mask so that its behind backround yet over text (Correct me if i'm wrong)



Step #13

Now make sure both layers are still selected and click on the "Tweens animation frames" button



Step #14

Change the "Frames to add" field to whatever suits you. The more frames = the longer it takes the animation to finish



Step #15

Now you are done! Click "Save for web" and change it to GIF. Review your outcome and let me know how you did!
