Hatsune Miku “World’s Fakest Pop Star”

The US network CBS has lately been the target of strong animosity from Miku fans all over the globe, after writing an article in which they had the audacity to call the holographic princess Hatsune Miku “the world’s fakest pop star.”
The article is a rather large entry into the “Hatsune Miku = creepy Japanese hologram” genre.

Article Wrote:Hatsune Miku is the rarest kind of pop star. She is enduringly popular in her native country of Japan. She has never been photographed stumbling out of night clubs in the early hours of the morning, and never had issues with drugs or alcohol. She has, in fact, never been seen outside of her concerts at all. This is because Miku is also the fakest kind of pop star. She is a hologram.
More accurately, Hatsune Miku is a digital avatar. Wikipedia describes her as a “singing synthesizer application with a female persona,” created by Crypton Future Media. Using Yamaha’s Vocaloid software, anyone with enough technical know-how can program Miku to perform any song on a computer.
In Japan, where synthetic characters — such as Hello Kitty — are often far more enduring than real celebrities, Miku has been a huge hit. The holographic star has performed multiple sold-out concerts in her home country and abroad. Projected larger than life on a screen, Miku sings and dances according to the direction of programmers who “choreographed” the concert weeks or months in advance.
The stark unreality of Hatsune Miku doesn’t seem to bother her fans at all.

Azusa Nakano’s Birthday

On a day of remembrance, we think of all the times; through thick and thin, and through happy and sad. And Azusa has definatly brought us both. The little moe brought us her birthday and boy did the Otaku's go crazy for it! TBS went down several times with so many frenzied Otaku's trying to grab some unique goodies to celebrate; not only that there were many tribute pictures posted around the web. Congrats on your 15th, or 16th or 17th birthday! We still don't know! Happy birthday Azu-nya!

China’s “Star Gate” Project -- The Center of Mockery

China's latest political patronage project, built in Liaoning province, will supposedly take the form of a gigantic ring, 157m tall, consuming 3000 tons of steel, make use 12,000 LEDs, and an undisclosed amount of electricity in its nocturnal illuminations. The project is so pointless that it soon found itself the butt of mass Photoshop mockery.
Plans were to allow bungee jumping off it, but was later concluded that it would be too dangerous even for China.

Numerous speculations have been made about possible uses for the seemingly-pointless structure: (Click to View)

Former Morning Musume idol in $1 million Porno Deal

Maki Goto former Morning Musume has just accepted a pronogrpahic movie deal worth around $1million and will appear in two hardcore films; which means a grand total of $500,000's for each movie she makes. Not only was this slightly shocking due to her being in one of the biggest girl bands in Japan, but she was also a former top idol. Sometimes money is everything though and turning down 80,000,000 yen is very hard to do. Heck, I can't even imagine what 80,000,000 would look like. The 27 year old has already posed in some very - well - rude poses, but has never truly showed everything to the camera, and well, technically she will, but the public won't see.

Those who are familiar with Japanese Porno, will know that due to Japanese law, adult material cannot be published in Japan without certain "areas" being blurred. So it begs the question: "is this too much money for a blurred porno?" Probably. The public won't get a clear view on what she looks like down below, but with some creativity, I'm sure they can imagine it.

Ghibli's 'Giant God Warrior' Theatrical Version Shown With Evangelion 3.0

An announcement was made during NTV's Friday Road Show! showing of Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone this Friday, stating the debut of the extended theatrical edition of Ghibli's "Kyoshinhei Tokyo ni Arawaru" (Giant God Warrior Appears in Tokyo) live-action tokusatsu (special-effects) short to be shown with Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo film this month. The live-action was developed by Evangelion director Hideaki Anno and produced by Studio Ghibli, NTV aired a teaser for the original version in May. The two will make a theatrical debut throughout Japan on November 17.

The short was inspired by the 'Giant God Warriors' from Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind manga and anime film. Anno, who was also a key animator for said film, later drew inspiration from the same concept (and childhood memories of the tokusatsu franchise Ultraman) to create Evangelion.

According to Anno, the short will not make use of computer graphics, but relies on traditional filmmaking techniques like miniatures to make the "definitive tokusatsu work." The original version was 9 minutes and 3 seconds, while the upcoming theatrical version will be 10 minutes and 7 seconds with revised footage and sound.

China-Quality Anime Statues Inflicting Mass Trauma

Images spread like a plague through the internet from Sina Weibo, taken from the Wenzhou anime event in China.
Displaying the best of Chinese artistic quality, it has lately been attracting major attention among Asian anime fans, though more for sake of mockery than admiration in any case.

Reading through the comments on the original article, this specific one caught my eye:

God yes. I mean, Mio and Gintoki in the fucking best love story ever told <3 This anime didn't give me a single break between outbursts of almost-painful laughing >.<
One of the best SOL's ever.

I was disappointed when nobody could guess it in the screenshot game, which is partially why I put it.

@Lone
Far? Boy that's not far by a long shot, considering the shit that people can think of >.>

I watched the first ep of that. Didn't really like it.
Don't know if it's the comedy or the character design that put me off.
