This guide is written for beginners who have no clue on how to decrypt a hash. If there are any questions left, don't hestitate to ask me right away. II. Determine the hash type: You found some random gibberish in the net and someone said you have to decrypt it? Don't worry. Determining the type of your hash isn't that hard. In fact, it's pretty easy and you will learn by doing. If you want to learn a bit, I suggest you reading this: Cryptography If you want to skip this part, then check this site to compare the hashes to your hash: Link In my opinion, this is the best overview over the most common hash types: Hash thread If you still have no clue what type of hash you got, you should try out THIS program. I'm not sure if it comes with Backtrack by default, but you should give it a try if the information above didn't help you. Now that you finally found the type of your hash, we can move on and decrypt it. III. How to decrypt a hash: We will use three things to decrypt a hash: - Passwords Pro [Download link] - Wordlist (also called dictionary) Spoiler (Click to View) - Your hash ____ I will follow every step with an example. I'm going to use the MD5 "ad3dd2ebd28e5d7f81ec326fbdf1fa7b" Step 1: Open PasswordsPro Spoiler (Click to View) Step 2: Go to Service -> Settings... Spoiler (Click to View) Final words: Thank you for reading my tutorial! This tutorial was written for beginners and I hope it was useful for some of you. If you can't decrypt a hash with a wordlist, try to get another wordlist. You can use a bruteforce attack aswell, but this is taking too much time in my opinion. If you found any bigger mistakes, let me know. Have a nice day everyone. * - PinkPanther - Oct 5, 2013 This is very nice man. Probably the interface. The speed is absolute crap tho. Suggestion: If you want to crack MD5 by bruteforcing use BarsWF. * - ᾋpthεn - Oct 6, 2013 (Oct 6, 2013 02:18 AM)Sʜᴀᴅᴏᴡ Rᴇᴀʟᴍ Wrote: What makes "PasswordPro" better than Hashcat? I choose PasswordPro because the GUI is great for beginners. There are better programs for max speed, but PasswordPro is easy to obtain and very user friendly :) * - tired- - Oct 6, 2013 Thanks for the tut, I was always a little interested in Cryptography, [minor rant] but the people on this section seem to think the only type of encryption is buying a "crypter" for their RAT. At least now I can actually learn something. [/minor rant] Thanks again :o * - Grey™ - Oct 6, 2013 This is really helpful for the noobs xD * - xVulnerable - Oct 6, 2013 Thanks for this guide! [/minor rant] By the way, if you want to actually learn a bit: There is a CrypterBluePrint on HF, which teaches you how a crypter works and how to make your own one. If you can't find it, drop me a PM and I'll send it to you. (This offer is for everyone, by the way ;) ) * - Sought - Nov 3, 2013 This is a very nice tut, its helped a lot thanks. * - Recep Ivedik - Nov 3, 2013 Blank, just blank.
