I am testing out Metasploit by trying to hack my virtual machine (VMware Player) but when I try to do it, it doesn't work, it gives me an error "Exploit failed [no-target]: No matching target". Also when I try to hack myself by putting my ip in for the LHOST and the RHOST it gives me the same message. I am using Windows 7 Home premium and I was trying to hack Windows 7 Home premium on my virtual machine. Can someone help me out?

Your trying to exploit the wrong target mate, you need to exploit windows XP have a look at the link I provided to have a quick look I hope it help u.

OP, there currently aren't any good exploits for windows 7 that provide a remote shell. You'll have to be creative.

type "show targets" and you will se what you can exploit with this exploit

For one, only unpatched WinXP are vulnerable to the netapi08 exploit, Microsoft released that patch in 2008. Windows 7 doesn't have a similar exploit.

Type in "show exploit" and look for another... there's hundreds of them.. but you can't to send an exploit and expect it to work, you have to find a vulnerability. And like @papaki said, type "show targets" and you'll see options for different versions of windows packs and etc.

by the way: for the ms08_067_netapi you do not have to set a payload. only set RHOST and then exploit the target.

HI Everyone same problem, but with XP instead of Windows Seven, also i have disactivated the Firewall!
I'have Kali linux and on it installed via VirtualBox Windows Xp.
With metasploit i get the following error when exploiting:
"Exploit aborted due to failure: no-target: No matching target"

@OP the exploit you're trying to use is for an old XP vulnerability, it's not going to work on Windows 7 or even an updated XP pc, that's why you get no matching target.
