How to remove Write Protection ? - SunnyAkuma - Jan 6, 2014 I have a SanDisk Cruzer USB thumb drive and it will not let me delete files, format the disk, or do anything without an error message about being " write protected ". I've tried numerous ways to format this drive, with no success. Any suggestions? * - Knautschtabak - Jan 6, 2014 Have you tried these instructions: http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/storage/3456666/how-format-write-protected-flash-drive/ * - Aura - Jan 6, 2014 (Jan 6, 2014 06:42 AM)SunnyAkuma Wrote: I have a SanDisk Cruzer USB thumb drive and it will not let me delete files, format the disk, or do anything without an error message about being " write protected ". If it's someone's else, you can give it back the flash drive and ask him to remove the write protection from his computer. Or, you could format it using a tool like Low Level Format Tool : http://hddguru.com/software/HDD-LLF-Low-Level-Format-Tool/ * - SunnyAkuma - Jan 6, 2014 (Jan 6, 2014 07:10 AM)Aurа Wrote: Is it your flash drive or someone's else flash drive ? Did you check for that? * - SunnyAkuma - Jan 6, 2014 (Jan 6, 2014 06:45 AM)Deque Wrote: Have you tried these instructions: http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/storage/3456666/how-format-write-protected-flash-drive/ Yeah , I tried this I need to go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies The Problem with this is that "StorageDevicePolicies" section is not present in my computer :/ Also I have been infected with a virus named recycler which wont go no matter what i do. * - Crake - Jan 6, 2014 Have you tried wiping it using a linux box? * - Aura - Jan 6, 2014 (Jan 6, 2014 01:42 PM)SunnyAkuma Wrote: Yeah , I tried this If you have been infected with a virus, you should go get checked by a MRT member before doing anything else. Go post a thread in the MRT section with all the required informations (logs), that can be found here : https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=3788670 |
