What's the difference between Express edition and standard edition? - [Rn] 7s^2 - Jul 19, 2014

What is the difference between Oracle database Express Edition 11g and Standard Edition.

I downloaded Express edition by mistake and I don't know which one to install.

Standard Edition is 2 GB :(

Can someone please help me?

So basically you want someone to read the documentation for you?

And that would be asking someone to read the documentation for you or instead of you.

Do you really think you are going to download and use Oracle without cracking the docs?

No. Not reading the documentation but just in 2 lines because I don't know much about technical sides of this stuff so even if they read it for me, it would be waste of time.

In my college, SQL is started and I really needed this to practice.

I am confused which one to download. My friend says it's only in MBs in college computers but Standard edition is 2 GB.

I downloaded SQL Developer and I think this wasn't even necessary. I didn't find anything like it in college.

There was just a localhost link and command prompt. Mostly we used to practice in command prompt.

Now the implementations keep changing with the time, you know. So maybe that's why their software size is less.

I just want an abstract view on it. I am confused. I am doing searches on this since 2 days and so far I have download SQL Developer and Oracle Database Express edition which I think is not what I needed. :/

Please help me sir to just get me started.

Well it depends on what you want. Oracle is a huge company which provides a huge selection of software that comes in many flavours.

Are you looking for a Oracle database management system so you can practice working with interactive SQL and management SQL?

No one commented there. That section seems dead. Not even a new topic after I made that.

I believe that the one of them supports plugins and such whereas the other edition doesn't. I really am not to sure about this.
