The long awaited sequel to Fate/Zero, featuring Rin Tohsaka's arc, is set to premiere this October. This TV anime series will be a remake of the Fate/Stay night: Unlimited Blade Works movie that was released in January 2010. Episode 1 of the series will be shown at a private screening in Los Angeles on September 28th, followed by the worldwide premiere on October 4th. The show will be available for streaming on Crunchyroll and Hulu on the same day the series premieres in Japan.

Tokyo Tower will be home to the 'One Piece' theme park starting Spring 2015
One Piece fans should rejoice. Tokyo Tower announced on their official website that they will be opening a theme park for the notorious manga/anime series. Although there have been various One Piece themed attractions and exhibitions in many different countries, this theme park will be the first permanent venue. More information will be updated in Weekly Shonen Jump, the manga anthology where One Piece is serialized.

A new approach to "selfies"
Fujifilm Corp have taken "selfies" to a whole new level. The firm just unveiled a camera that tracks a person and takes his/her pictures. The camera uses facial recognition to identify which person to track. With this, it is possible to capture an athlete's natural expression while the user is playing a sport. One initial drawback of the system was the inability for the camera to recognize its target if the user turns their back to the camera. A new technology, "moving object tracking technology", was added to the camera's functions, allowing the camera to predict the user's movement based on trajectory in an attempt to fix this problem. While the camera being displayed is just a prototype, Fujifilm plans to put the camera on retail store shelves in the future.

"Listen, an idol’s job isn't to show people their smiles. It’s to make people smile! Never forget that!"

This week we have another Love Live! cosplay! I'm sure we all heard the words 'Nico Nico Nii!' many times within our lifetime, so of course, Yun will go full idol mode in order to show us a pretty good Nico cosplay. Yun actually looks pretty generic. In a way, that is a good thing as she can fit into many cosplaying rules, just like Nico's. However, it seems like the quality of the cosplay material really shines here over the representation of the character itself. The wig (assuming it is actually a wig) sells the cosplay, along with the ribbons. Don't get me wrong, Yun looks extremely pretty in all her cosplays, it just feels as if the outfits let her shine the best.

It's hard to really judge the poses Yun takes because of the provided photos, but of course a link has been provided with a large gallery ranging from different character cosplays and such. Taking into consideration of the character she is cosplaying, it seems that Yun does a lot of background research on said character, enabling her cosplay to sell successfully. Her poses are done extremely well, not something found in amateur cosplaying.

It's a shame the photographer was never mentioned. For all we know it could be done by herself or peers. The photographer really knows how to bring out the best sides of Yun in the most effective manner.

Synopsis

She has a loving family and best friends, laughs and cries from time to time... Madoka Kaname, an eighth grader commuting Mitakihara middle school, is one of those who lives such a life. One day, she had a very magical encounter. She doesn't know if it happened by chance or by fate yet. This is a fateful encounter that can change her destiny—this is a beginning of the new story of the magical girls.

Characters

Kyuubey "Incubator, QB"
He is a familiar who can grant any wish to a certain girl, on the condition that she becomes a Puella Magi (Magical Girl) and fights against witches.

Madoka Kaname
A 14-year-old girl whose life changes when she encounters the Puella Magi Homura and the familiar Kyubey, who offers to transform her into a Puella Magi herself. She sees herself as a person without special qualities or talents, and after seeing Mami fighting against witches, wants to be a wonderful and cool Puella Magi like her. She is a rather selfless girl who wishes to be a magical girl simply so that she can help others. She allegedly has a large amount of magical potential within her.

Homura Akemi
Homura is a magical girl who first appears in Madoka's apocalyptic nightmare. She transfers into her school the day after the dream. She is a beautiful, mysterious individual that performs exceptionally well in academics and athletics. This makes her instantly popular even though she is cold to others.

She seems to know Madoka well and wishes to prevent her from becoming a Puella Magi. She attacks Kyubey in the first episode, only to be stopped by Mami.

Tails' Opinion
Note, I will be referring to this series as "Madoka" for convenience purposes.
So today we have somewhat of a treat for you guys. Many have seen Madoka but many have not. I would like to start off by saying this show is very good. The story is okay. Its not the best thing I've ever seen but its not the worst either. The show has decent progression throughout but most importantly it never really gets boring. The tipping point though is that even though it is a magical girl show it doesn't fall into the stereotype; it's very dark all the way through from episode 2-3 to episode 12. You still have the magical girl stereotypes of cute girls doing cute things sometimes but the dark undertone is very, very blatant and recognizable.
I give the story a 7/10

Onto the characters. We have a cast that consists of 99% loli and about 1% cat/animal/alien thing. So yeah, lolicon paradise. It's a magical girl show, what do you expect? It's cute girls doing cute things and defeating the occasional baddie. Overall, I don't know if it counts in the characters or the story but I'm gonna put it here: I really like the decisions that were made with the characters. When I say "with", I mean the things that happen to the characters, not just the decisions made by the cast. Other than that the dynamic of the entire cast is pretty solid. The main thing holding back Madoka is that the supporting cast is very weak. Literally, the supporting cast are just there to give some background on the personalities/lives of the main characters but they have nothing to offer themselves which honestly keeps me from giving Madoka a 10 or even a 9 here.
I give the characters a 8/10.

So the art is alright. It has a feeling like its from 2008ish but really the show came out in 2011, if that makes sense. That's just how I was able to analyze it in my mind anyway. The fight scenes are okay and the general animation is also only okay. Its not bad but it isn't spectacular in my eyes.
I give the art an 6/10.

Overall, Madoka is a one of a kind show. It takes the magical girl genre and turns it on its head. It's sort of a favorite around AA and there is very good reason for that. It's different. When a lot of anime really sticks to the stereotypes of the genre it's placed in to such an extent that you get a feeling of "seen one seen em all", it's really nice to see Shaft take the risk they did and not try to brighten it up a bit and keep it really really dark. It's absolutely wonderful. Enjoyment wise, this might be one of the best magical girl shows you will ever see. Without a doubt. And even if you aren't really into lolis and magical girl fairy shit and you only like SAO, Log Horizon, Naruto, One Piece, etc you will still probably like this show. One of the most enjoyable series I've seen without a doubt.
In terms of enjoyment I give it a 9/10

Programmargorp's Opinion
By now, most of you should have probably realised that I’m running out of stuff to write in this intro section and has been since like… three issues ago. Anyhow since I realised that I can’t play mind games with you guys anymore, I’ll dive right into it this week with another one of Shaft’s works. Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica (yes, that star was necessary), directed by Shinbo Akiyuki with a story by Urobuchi Gen; naturally high hopes were held in regards to this series.

In case you guys don’t know, Urobuchi Gen also wrote other things such as Saya no Uta, Fate/Zero, Psycho-Pass, Gargantia and this season’s Aldnoah.Zero. On the other hand, Shinbo Akiyuki also directed other shows that I hold in very high regard (Monogatari series, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and even the supervision of ef); naturally this means that the same disclaimer as when I did Mekakucity Actors applies. i.e. I’m a Shaft fanboy.
Also, I swear this review has more lines that it looks like on a full HD screen D:
So you might say, “lol gorp you’re such a lolicon huehuehue” for which I would probably reply with “go watch it yourself and see”. You see, the thing is that with Gen doing the story, one thing is certain: this series is not going to have the best story ever, but storywise it’s not going to be horrible either. Since this review is for the TV series and is not inclusive of the story of Hangyaku no Monogatari (Movie 3/Rebellion), I’ll leave it at the fact that this series is probably the darkest Mahou Shoujo anime you will ever see.
Story wise, I rate it a 7/10

Realising that I’ve been dodging the question of if I’m a lolicon or not for the past 2 minutes of this review, I’ll go ahead and answer that before I get into the next section. I do not mind loli characters in the series I watch, but I am not a lolicon at all, therefore you can expect no bias from me as this series has a cast of 100% lolis.
In terms of characters, there isn’t really much to say except the fact that Madoka actually had pretty well developed characters overall and serves to show you how to do characters right. There isn’t much more I’ll say beyond this.
Character wise, I rate this a 9/10

Onto the art. While I’m a massive fan of Shaft’s art style and their abilities to pump out epic art out of pretty much any series that exists (along with the fence that just keeps getting fencier) it’s hard to give anything but Makoto Shinkai’s works at CoMix a full score. I’ll just go with saying that it’s pretty good and drop a score on it.
Art wise, I rate this a 8/10

As usual, the last section, namely the question “Did I enjoy this series”?
My answer is yes, yes I did. If you’re not a Narutard or similar, you probably will too.
Enjoyment wise, I rate this a 9/10

Overall, when you look at Madoka as a series, you’re shown the true potential of the Mahou Shoujo genre (which these days unfortunately seems to all be wasted on crap like Vividred Operation). I actually dropped this show 1.5 eps in since the first ep was just so boring, however picked it up again later.
The bottom line is, if you want to see what the genre of Mahou Shoujo can actually do, go ahead and watch this series.
Hell, the only reason why you shouldn’t watch this is if you think “Naruto is lyk da bst chinse cartoon eva”.

Tails' Rating 8/10

Synopsis
The story revolves around Shōko Nishimiya, a middle school student who has impaired hearing. She transfers into a new school, where she is bullied by her classmates. Shouya Ishida, one of the bullies, goes to the point that she transfers to another school. As a result, he is ostracized and bullied himself, with no friends to speak of and no plans for the future. Years later, he sets himself on a path to redemption.

Characters

Shouya Ishida
The main character and narrator. Ishida bullied Nishimiya Shuko in elementary school and when she transferred away, he was ostracized and bullied by his former friends. He started to ignore those around him (imagining them with a large X across their face) and was driven to the point of suicide. He changed his mind after he apologized to Nishimiya and began to spend time with her. He learned sign language specifically, so he could apologize to her and is shown to be very talented in it. He feels like he hasn't been punished enough for bullying Nishimiya and often wishes he could kill his younger self. He seems resigned to the fact that he will never be able to have friends again.

Shouko Nishimiya
A young, deaf transfer student with an amazingly positive outlook on life. Despite being a victim of continuous bullying, she always keeps a smile on her face.

Vandie’s Opinion
The story in this manga makes you think about topics that people in schools and such generally tend to ignore. It does happen and this manga highlights it perfectly. Although the first few chapters are about the bullying it does later become something beautiful showing the relationship between Shouya and Shouko growing from hate and the ashes of life becoming something worth so much more...
The story gets an almost perfect 9/10

The characters in Koe no Katachi are certainly outside of the box with Shouko being an upbeat deaf girl and Shouya being a bully turn victim. They do a brilliant job of showing readers a world they have might never have experienced and make you feel joy whenever they achieve something. Overall they are very interesting even if sometimes their reasoning is a little stupid.
The characters get a rather brilliant 8/10

On the art front, it's not bad but I don't really enjoy it very much. I mean it looks nice but unfortunately, it doesn't really click with me. The backdrops are done well, I just don't like how the characters are drawn. I can't actually put my finger on why to be honest, but ah well...
The art get's a slightly lower 6/10

Overall the Manga was good, not brilliant but good enough to get a decent grade. The story is really what held this series up and definitely shows Yoshitoki Ooima to be an amazing writer. Although her art was not the most amazing I've ever seen she did try her best to do decent art and so I'm not going to penalise her too much over it.

Overall the manga is going to get a decent 8/10.

If you want a manga reviewed please send a pm to vandie, IF you don't know if you should then just do it. I may even give you a shoutout as It appears no one even reads this small print or knows that requests can be made, maybe Ill just make it font size large next time ;)
seriously you guys think I have a list given to me by some deity of every manga you have ever liked?...

Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke o: Anata to Koibito Tsunagi

Synopsis:

Sono Hana 3 revolves around a young teenage girl by the name of Sawaguchi Mai. Mai is an honour student, popular among the students of the all girls school that she attends and even has love letters and confessions given to her on a regular basis. One day, a new transfer student that Mai has never seen before, Reo, s into her. The two eventually get along and the story starts to unfold.

The whole Sono Hana series has been developed by Fuguriya and Yurin Yurin, who have also developed different types of eroge, but specialize in yuri.

Story:
The story was pretty mediocre. Well...it really didn't have much of a story. It was literally the pair going to school with maybe one or two things happening to allow the 'story' to progress. Nothing really interesting happened at all and it was really hard to continue playing this until the end as it seemed pretty boring when the actual sex scenes were not present. It didn't feel like an actual story was even written. Maybe the writers just winged it?

Sound:
The soundtrack used overall was pretty decent, with nothing too annoying. Everything seemed fine. Appropriate music was playing during every scene to match the atmosphere. The voice actors, however, were incredible. Reo's voice actor (Anzu Hana) suited the voice for Reo in a scary way. Everything seemed perfect and she alone made the viewing pleasure that much more enjoyable.

Art:
The art was pretty good, not bad but not exactly top notch. Some of the art done on Mai's face was a little weird, but nothing to really complain about though unless you're picky.

Yet another great edition! Series reviews were thorough and well-written on all three accounts. That Nico cosplay <3

On another note, please please please if you have any interest in helping out with headlines, AA News or any other sections give anyone on the team a PM (Tweety would be the first port-of-call). We're quite low staffed and would appreciate any help possible. Due to circumstances Tweety has to take on multiple peoples' jobs and considering he posted this 3 hours before his classes start, something needs to be done as soon as possible to alleviate some of his workload.

Nice issue the Fate/Stay Night hype is real so pumped like two more weeks.

Only thing I noticed was for anyone who hasn't seen Madoka reading the review Spoiler (Click to View)

Other than that everyone else was good as always I'll say I'm going to check out the VN never do because I get distracted with other things (finishing series) even though I have a bunch of the name of them saved on a note for me to go back to.

How people rate Madoka's story a 7/10 but the characters 9/10 is beyond me to be honest, oh well. I'll try to contain my salt.
