Windows 7 or windows 8? What is the best version to install? - otavioaugusto - Dec 8, 2014 Windows 7 or windows 8? What is the best version to install? * - bοxxy - Dec 8, 2014 Personally, I would prefer Windows 7 on a Desktop, and Windows 8 on a touchscreen laptop. * - Tozo - Dec 8, 2014 What boxxy said, I just hate the layout of Windows 8 on a PC so I would go for Windows 7. * - clark.dll - Dec 8, 2014 Windows 8.1 is faster and more stable than Windows 7. It will stay supported longer and it's less resource intensive. I would go Windows 8.1, just avoid Windows 8. If Aura were here he'd tell you to ditch Windows and grab a Mac but I don't think you want a Mac do you? * - webdev77 - Dec 8, 2014 I prefer 8.1. It does not matter though. 8.1 simply is newer and has more useful features. * - otavioaugusto - Dec 8, 2014 What I didn't like on windows 8.1 is that need an account from outlook to enter, I think this means that boring. Windows 7 does not have this, only the user accounts. In conclusion, I will even 8.1 to be the most new? I am from Brazil * - Aura - Dec 8, 2014 Not Windows 8, Windows 8.1. Also, there's no best, it's completely up to you, in the end, it's down to personal preference. People have to stop making these threads already. Also, it belongs in one of the Windows section. * - BITW - Dec 8, 2014 I prefer windows 7 but as aura already mentioned that it's up to you. Yeah win 8.1 already got huge popularity which tells both are really great to use. * - Sennheiser - Dec 8, 2014 win 7 is faster than win 8 win 8 has too much crap * - Revamp - Dec 8, 2014 I prefer Windows 7 still. Win 8 still needs some work. * - ~Jay~ - Dec 9, 2014 Windows 7 is the best option at the moment, but everyone that has Windows 8 gets an automatic upgrade to Windows 10, which is supposed to fix most of the problems with Windows 8. If you can deal with the sort of awkward UI and bugs in 8 for now, it'll pay off in the long run. * - Aura - Dec 9, 2014 (Dec 9, 2014 03:55 AM)Schizotypal Wrote: Windows 7 is the best option at the moment, but everyone that has Windows 8 gets an automatic upgrade to Windows 10, which is supposed to fix most of the problems with Windows 8. Windows 8 users can upgrade to Windows 8.1 for free, not Windows 10. And why is Windows 7 better than Windows 8.1? (Dec 8, 2014 10:46 PM)Sennheiser Wrote: win 7 is faster than win 8 What kind of crap are you talking about? Also, Windows 8/8.1 is in theory faster than Windows 7 since it takes less resources to run basically. * - Doctah - Dec 9, 2014 I honestly at first didn't like Windows 8. It had stability issues. I decided to suck it in and realized most of the issues I had were solved in updates. My Windows 8.1 installation uses ~300MB less memory. My Windows 8.1 installation uses ~13% less processing power. My Windows 8.1 installation boots up 12.5 seconds faster than Windows 7. Right now, I'm on Windows 10 Technical Preview. It's even slicker than 8.1. Only downside is the windows control bars go transparent and unclickable where control box is. But, what do you expect from a Technical Preview? It'll be fixed sooner or later. It rarely happens. * - lewisg743 - Dec 9, 2014 I would always recommend Windows 7, although depending on the system/user it can be beneficial to install 8/8.1 Also, if you do decide on windows 8, try out Start8 it basically brings Windows 7's start menu into windows 8; it's technically paid but some places offer it 'free' ;) //First post// * - Aura - Dec 9, 2014 (Dec 9, 2014 02:32 PM)lewisg743 Wrote: I would always recommend Windows 7, although depending on the system/user it can be beneficial to install 8/8.1 OR he could just use ClassicShell which is totally customizable (and always updated) AND free ... http://www.classicshell.net/ |
