Extremely new to photography - Any beginner tips? - Passionist - Jan 9, 2015 Hello HF, this is the first time I've ever browsed the photography section and I really love it. It's incredible looking at everybody elses work. You guys are awesome. I recently picked up a camera, a Canon Rebel T5. I'm also an EXTREMELY beginner photographer and looking for any sort of tips, tricks, or need to know things when taking pictures or editing. These are a couple of pictures I have taken, I've owned the camera just under a week now. https://imgur.com/JdPsHhB,DkuR1Wc,uYqrP0I,9jIJTq3,Iryv8Fx,PbpT7vn#0 * - Cuhz - Jan 9, 2015 Exactly the same as me, I got the t5i/700d about 2/3 weeks ago. Still learning, some tips would be nice :) * - Simply™ - Jan 9, 2015 Do some research on the rule of thirds. Important rule to know. * - Cubs - Jan 9, 2015 Watch some Youtube videos on it, I am very experienced and I still watch videos and am always learning. * - Hayley Williams - Jan 9, 2015 (Jan 9, 2015 03:40 PM)Sɪᴍᴘʟʏ Wrote: Do some research on the rule of thirds. Important rule to know. I'd only do this after you know the whole exposure triangle. Once you get ISO, aperture, and shutter speed down learn all of the rules of composition. * - Passionist - Jan 10, 2015 Thank you so much everybody for the help, it's much appreciated. :) I'm pretty for familiar with the exposure triangle, though I'm not nearly close to mastering it, I'm becoming better. * - Stay Plural - Jan 11, 2015 yes some tips: use google when you have a question * - Positive - Jan 11, 2015 https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=4595980 Thread to live by. * - Denitorious - Jan 11, 2015 If you're a complete beginner then Google is the way to go. You could have googled your thread title. The results could have kept you busy for days. Come back when you have more precise questions, mate. * - fishtank12 - Jan 13, 2015 I bought this book to help me with my photography and would recommend for a beginner Understanding Exposure, 3rd Edition: How to Shoot Great Photographs with Any Camera Paperback – 7 Aug 2010 by Bryan Peterson (Author) * - joons - Jan 13, 2015 Damn, those pictures looks really good though. I know nothing about photography though lol. Good luck! * - RomyTheSloth - Jan 14, 2016 There are a lot of great websites to help you out with beginner photography. I recommend taking a class at a local art store/photography shop. Basic things you NEED to know with a DSLR are photo composition (lighting, exposure, contrast etc) along with basic functions of a camera. Start with auto mode then work your way up to manual controlling Shutter speed, aperture, light balance and ISO. DOF (Depth of field) is very helpful when trying to focus in on your subject matter. Rule of thirds is a biggie for starting off although you can get more complex with leading lines etc. You can google any of what I said for more explanation or you can PM me and feel free to ask questions! * - pilot703 - Feb 9, 2016 My advice would be checking out some tips on the internet, there is a lot out there about this subject. |
