HDD Failure - Emily Brontë - Feb 2, 2015 So I have a toshiba satellite l775 and I did a windows 7 system repair disc to see if I could fix my problem. Startup repair said a disk failure is preventing windows from starting, so my question is what disc should I buy to replace the faulty one? I know nothing about this so I don't know if there's certain things to look for or avoid. * - Gяαη∂тнεfтнσяsε - Feb 2, 2015 Buy a western Digital drive, they're HQ and I personally use four. * - Joink - Feb 2, 2015 Best case scenario go for an SSD. It's fast, helps your batterie life and overall safer (Personally) * - Hol1x - Feb 3, 2015 western Digital HDD (For storage) SSD (Fast boot) I would combine both and SSD and a HDD. SSD don't have allot of storage space but they are really fast, if you put your operating system on this it will boot in less then 10 seconds (9,76sec was my last boot time) and then i would just use and HDD for normal storage and such! * - Absolute Greatest - Feb 3, 2015 Just try unplugging and plugging your hdd back in. Is this a laptop? * - Joink - Feb 3, 2015 (Feb 3, 2015 08:49 AM)jkjkklhrew Wrote: western Digital HDD (For storage) SSD dont have alot of storage... But you could also have a bigger SSD, or an SSD and an external drive. * - coolerfarmer - Feb 3, 2015 (Feb 3, 2015 08:49 AM)jkjkklhrew Wrote: western Digital HDD (For storage) I always thought: "SSDs are useless. Only your PC boots a bit faster and the overall system performance is a bit faster". Then I bought one and realized that it's a "MUST HAVE"!!!! I get boot times of less than 7 seconds, .... It's the best thing to buy if you don't have it yet :) (Feb 3, 2015 08:49 AM)jkjkklhrew Wrote: western Digital HDD (For storage) I always thought: "SSDs are useless. You might've ed your laptop up against something too hard and the hdd mightve came slightly unplugged. * - w w w - Feb 5, 2015 If you're wanting to dish out some serious dough, get an Intel/HyperX SSD. If you're wanting a more practical solution to your dilemma, go for a Western Digital HDD. * - Emily Brontë - Feb 5, 2015 Am getting the western digital hdd. This is just temporary, have plans for custom pc in future. Thanks to all who provided suggestions I apppreciate it a lot! |
