Japanese Lang. Resources - Peanut Butter - Jun 13, 2015 皆さん、おはよう。 Good morning, everyone. If this looks familiar it's because it's an edited thread from Kawaii, but some people haven't seen it so I'm sharing it here too. Feel free to post some of your own resources and discuss your experience with them. Online Lessons/Tests Tae Kim's Guide to Japanese - Good for learning lots of useful grammar and Kana. Japanese Class - For learning vocabulary and kanji. Jisho - An ENG-JAP and JAP-ENG dictionary. You can search for words, kanji (by pronunciation or by the radicals) and sentences. A List of Japanese Verbs and Their Conjugations. Real Kana - Helps you piece together the sounds with the characters through repetition. Kanji Damage - A different approach to learning Kanji. Japanese StackExchange - A good place to find answers to questions you may have. Anki - Flashcards if you learn that way. Nihonshock - This is a good article from Nihonshock explaining the difference between the 「は」 and 「が」 particles. WaniKani - Great for learning kanji and vocab. (Thanks zyvox) Apps (I only have an Android whoops) Obenkyo - Has a portable version of Tae Kim's guide and various tests. Learning Japanese - A portable version of the same guide, if you don't want the tests. Google's Japanese Keyboard. Jisho on Mobile Kotoba-chan - Pretty much a better looking version of Obenkyo minus the guide. (Thanks again zyvox) Books Genki I (CA | US | GB) Genki II (CA | US | GB) Canadian prices make me cry Yotsuba&! Raw @ JBox - This is actually pretty useful for learning some casual speech patterns. Get this after you've gone through a lot of Tae Kim's grammar guide and you've learned a good amount of vocabulary. You'll probably find yourself looking up some words in a dictionary, but with electronic dictionaries and the included furigana(hiragana next to the kanji) it's not difficult. Even if you don't understand everything, you can probably figure it out from what's going on in the panels. Others & Resources from people on Kawaii Pokemon is fun, all the Japanese dialogue is in hiragana and katakana. You can find the ROMs somewhere if you search for them. Memrise (Online Lessons) Remembering the Kana & Kanji (Books) The Japanese Page (Online Lessons) There's also this pastebin dump of a bunch of resources, I haven't gone through all of them to see how good they are though: http://pastebin.com/RTdXaGFC がんばります! Do your best! I know this isn't about anime but it's close enough * - zyvox - Jun 13, 2015 Realkana worked extremely well for me to learn hiragana and katakana, you should just put off some time every day to go through it, or do it between other things. They recently changed the interface though and I have no idea why, it was so nice before and now it's some weird customizable thing? Anyway you should add wanikani to the list, it's great for learning kanji and also vocabulary. https://www.wanikani.com/ If it's still in beta you can sign up and should receive an invite within like day or something. Can't say anything yet on the Genki textbooks but I've heard they are the best so I've ordered them, hopefully they live up to that rumor. You can also find this as a pdf with torrents but, fuck, if you're actually serious about learning Japanese you should rather buy a book, it's both easier to read and you can actually use the workbook which is one of the things Genki excels at. Oh and for Android I've also used Kotoba-chan a bit while on the run, it seems great so far. (Vocabulary part of it is what I've used) * - Peanut Butter - Jun 13, 2015 (Jun 13, 2015 09:25 AM)zyvox Wrote: Realkana worked extremely well for me to learn hiragana and katakana, you should just put off some time every day to go through it, or do it between other things. Didn't even know about that change, I definitely prefer the older design though. Gonna provide the link to the older one instead. I agree with the purchasing of study materials instead of just pirating them though, I have raws for Yotsuba&! on my comp to translate & typeset in my spare time but I buy the books before I do anything with the digital copy. I considered pirating Genki to use on my kindle but decided against it and bought it. It's really expensive for some reason but I guess that's just how it is for all textbooks. Added those two to the list as well, thanks. * - Mac Marvin - Jun 13, 2015 This is great for anyone looking into learning Japanese, also posting for bookmark 🤝 * - Oliver Sykes - Jun 13, 2015 Subbing to this, as I plan on getting to a basic level before the summer's up. Great compilation, OP. * - kakarot007 - Jun 16, 2015 memrise has a japanese course . it is free and teach you lot about japanese language and culture . memrise.com * - Elweth - Jun 16, 2015 Thanks for sharing, love how are the links are in one place for easy reference. * - 8088y - Jun 17, 2015 I remember that Tim Ferris shared some thoughts on learning japanese. * - Chips Ahoy McCoy - Jun 17, 2015 Wow, thanks for this. I've been considering learning a few things. * - Angel-sama❤️ - Jun 17, 2015 Congrats you're trying to make more people turn into full unhygienic weaboos. * - zyvox - Jun 17, 2015 (Jun 17, 2015 05:54 AM)Angel-sama Wrote: Congrats you're trying to make more people turn into full unhygienic weaboos. AAAAAAyyy have two people with the same degree and qualifications apply for the same job, except one of them can also speak fluent japanese. This is an international company. See who gets the hundreds-of-k-$/year job and who has to work at walmart * - HashC0de - Apr 4, 2016 Nice stuff Matt. I learned a lot from this :) Have some じめじめミーム's |
