I have watched so far: Akame Ga Kill, Anohana, Clannad/after story, 5 centimeters per second, a lot more but I cannot think.
List me some I'm trying to get emo.

If I repeat others' suggestions, consider it doubly recommended.
There are few anime that actually strive to be viewed 'sad', but there are plenty that could be called 'depressing', or have characters that have a backstory, or are currently in circumstances, that could be called 'sad' or 'pitiful'. Sometimes there are anime that just have a climatic moment that defines the series, and is coincidentally 'sad'.
"Sad anime" is just too ambiguous, but I'll do my best:
