Recently i had to take care of some rootkits/bootkits and i think my system is fully restored, the problem i am having is that certain programs dont work.
I looked in event viewer and saw these:

Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\NppShell_06.dll". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.CRT,processorArchitecture="amd64",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="9.0.21022.8" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.This happens with other programs, does anyone know what this is? I tried google and installed some c++ packages but that did not work.

Have you tried reinstalling corresponding VC++ component?

VC++ 2005, 2008, 2010 and 2013 are all installed.

Could you be a little more specific about "restore" that you have done?

Open up cmd and try the command "sfc /scannow"

a dism command fixed it, thanks for all the help.
