Cellphone IMEI number. - Trivexlium - May 22, 2016 Hi. I am attempting to sell my Note 3 & Someone was asking for the IMEI number. Apprently on google this has mixed responses from being verified of not stolen property or a bad thing of someone cloning your phone. I wanted to get a opinion from HF is it safe to give this number out? * - Epic - May 22, 2016 I don't think it's safe to give out your IMEI due to the possibility of it being cloned. If you're selling on a platform that offers buyer protection (such as PayPal), mention that to them and say they can refund if the item isn't as described. * - Trivexlium - May 22, 2016 Thats what i was thinking. Thanks for your help. * - ultimate. - May 22, 2016 But with IMEI you can also checked if the phone was stole before. This is propably someone asked for it. * - Λlex - May 22, 2016 It's normal to ask for the IMEI number, a lot of people are selling stolen phones, I don't think he'll do anything with it. * - IPIKIN - May 22, 2016 I wouldn't buy a phone online unless i could check the IMEI number * - Trivexlium - May 22, 2016 I could litteraly show proof of purchase. I bought the phone directly from the tmobile website when I first started using their service. I have the original box and manuals etc. * - Trivexlium - May 22, 2016 (May 22, 2016 01:28 PM)xadamxk Wrote: I'm sorry but you know nothing. Ah yolo I guess. Tryna sell it so I can fix my car. * - tron - May 23, 2016 There are plenty of people who use them to program into their blacklisted phone so they can use it again, I've sold more than a few on the deepweb markets. * - tron - May 23, 2016 (May 23, 2016 04:28 AM)xadamxk Wrote: Well not oh any modern smartphone you haven't. You shouldn't speak about things you have no expertise on. You'd be suprised what can still be done even on modern phones. * - Trivexlium - May 23, 2016 Okay okay. No arguing here. Just asked a simple question & I got my answer thank you all. Word of advice tron, sometimes it best to move on than press it. Thread closed. |
