Remove BB Code/Formatting characters from sig limit - MrJamieMcC - Jun 14, 2016 So as you know there is a maximum amount of characters allowed in your signature. Which is 100% fine and i understand the reason for it. As you can see my signature doesnt contain a lot of text but as i have formatted my text i cant add anything else. This is what my signature looks like Code [align=center]Have a look at my Game Development Blog/Portfolio[/align]All of those "align=center & /url" etc take up a lot of your usable characters and thus reducing the amount you can actually put into your signature. What do you all think? * - Bluffer - Jun 14, 2016 Decent idea that I think could happen. I have the same issue, my signature isn't overly long and I can't write much more than what I already have. * - Sakuto - Jun 14, 2016 I suggested to not count the url in the character but it was denied so I don't know if it will be implemented. Also, you could reduce the number of character by removing the multiple align and b, use only one. * - MrJamieMcC - Jun 14, 2016 (Jun 14, 2016 12:59 PM)Sakuto Wrote: I suggested to not count the url in the character but it was denied so I don't know if it will be implemented. I didnt even think about that aahahahhah * - Lord - Jun 14, 2016 I support this idea completely. I don't think it would be too difficult to adjust the character counter for this either. * - Raddify - Jun 14, 2016 I think that is a good idea, i had to take stuff out of mine to get my quote and sig. Kinda a bummer, see why it is there, but your idea is really good imo. * - N1nj4Styl3 - Jun 14, 2016 I think the reason behind this is not about what we, the users, see. It's about the database / site loading / resources thing. Otherwise, I can't think of any reason why would Omniscient implement it. * - labroca - Jun 14, 2016 You can utilize the efficiency of MyBB code and have plenty of text. Code [align=center]* - Hash G. - Jun 14, 2016 It won't be implemented unfortunately as stated here - Profile Policies, Violations, and Rules Help Document Quote:What if my signature only has text? Is there a limit? Use url shorteners such as goo.gl to reduce the amount of characters of your links. * - mrnapolean1 - Jun 14, 2016 I am for this change too. I use some advanced BB formatting in my signature and there are just a lot of things I cannot add because of the bbcode hitting the character limit. * - Mαxim - Jun 14, 2016 I support this suggestion. Hidden codes should not count for the 250 char limit. * - Armada - Jun 15, 2016 (Jun 14, 2016 01:55 PM)Hash G. Personally never found this an issue myself, but I can see how the tags can annoy people with lengthy textual or formatted signatures. Cant honestly see how it could be overly abused either. Just me though. * - Vitani - Jun 15, 2016 A suggestion similar like this has already been denied. As an alternative solution you can use things like url shorteners to cut down on characters. * - mrnapolean1 - Jun 15, 2016 (Jun 15, 2016 01:01 PM)Vitani Wrote: A suggestion similar like this has already been denied. I am more likely to click on a URL that says Example: www.youtube.com/ instead of goo.gl/hs985m in my details bar/tooltip balloon. * - Mαxim - Jul 14, 2016 Bringing this thread back on the top. Would like to see if this suggestion can be made. |
