Remove BB Code/Formatting characters from sig limit

So as you know there is a maximum amount of characters allowed in your signature. Which is 100% fine and i understand the reason for it.

As you can see my signature doesnt contain a lot of text but as i have formatted my text i cant add anything else.

This is what my signature looks like

Code
[align=center]Have a look at my Game Development Blog/Portfolio[/align]
[align=center][b][URL]http://jamiemcclenaghan.co.uk[/URL][/b][/align]
[align=center][b][URL]https://www.facebook.com/JamieMcClenaghanGames/[/URL][/b][/align]

All of those "align=center & /url" etc take up a lot of your usable characters and thus reducing the amount you can actually put into your signature.

What do you all think?
Decent idea that I think could happen. I have the same issue, my signature isn't overly long and I can't write much more than what I already have.

Nowadays? I'm just here for the nostalgia.
I suggested to not count the url in the character but it was denied so I don't know if it will be implemented. Also, you could reduce the number of character by removing the multiple align and b, use only one.

Thats a good idea! I didnt even think about that aahahahhah
I support this idea completely.
I don't think it would be too difficult to adjust the character counter for this either.
I think that is a good idea, i had to take stuff out of mine to get my quote and sig. Kinda a bummer, see why it is there, but your idea is really good imo.

I think the reason behind this is not about what we, the users, see. It's about the database / site loading / resources thing. Otherwise, I can't think of any reason why would Omniscient implement it.
You can utilize the efficiency of MyBB code and have plenty of text.

Code
[align=center]
Have a look at my Game Development Blog/Portfolio
[b]
[URL]http://jamiemcclenaghan.co.uk[/URL]
[URL]https://www.facebook.com/JamieMcClenaghanGames/[/URL]
[/b]
[/align]
Try this, and upgrade your account for more space.
It won't be implemented unfortunately as stated here - Profile Policies, Violations, and Rules

Quote:What if my signature only has text? Is there a limit?
We don't enforce an exact size with text. Our settings are 255 characters including mycode. Do not enlarge your signature with enormous text or lots of spaces. Just be reasonable with your sig size.

Why not extend the max characters or at least discount the mycode for signatures?
This is our limit. You'll have to deal with it. We are not going to extend it or change how it works. Everyone has the same limitations on HF.

Use url shorteners such as goo.gl to reduce the amount of characters of your links.
I am for this change too.
I use some advanced BB formatting in my signature and there are just a lot of things I cannot add because of the bbcode hitting the character limit.
I support this suggestion. Hidden codes should not count for the 250 char limit.

Use url shorteners such as goo.gl to reduce the amount of characters of your links.

With enough logic behind it even federal laws can be amended. Just saying.

Personally never found this an issue myself, but I can see how the tags can annoy people with lengthy textual or formatted signatures. Cant honestly see how it could be overly abused either. Just me though.
A suggestion similar like this has already been denied. As an alternative solution you can use things like url shorteners to cut down on characters.

I am more likely to click on a URL that says Example: www.youtube.com/ instead of goo.gl/hs985m in my details bar/tooltip balloon.
Bringing this thread back on the top. Would like to see if this suggestion can be made.
