Twitch Taking Legal Action on Viewbotting - Riyu - Jun 17, 2016 Twitch tweeted out out the following "@Twitch We're taking legal action against viewbotting, starting with some of the largest sellers of botting services." https://twitter.com/Twitch/status/743899849410523141 https://blog.twitch.tv/on-artificial-viewers-followers-and-chat-activity-317906f1c7ea#.5zalg841d * - Formant - Jun 17, 2016 Oh shit, I just saw this. I don't fully understand it though. It's not really that different from buying Twitter followers, Facebook likes, etc. * - Silicone - Jun 17, 2016 I can't wait to see the big streamers drop in activity now lol. * - VeloCityMods - Jun 17, 2016 Damn sucks for people that sell these services anyway good on you twitch lol. * - Riyu - Jun 17, 2016 (Jun 17, 2016 02:07 PM)Silicone Wrote: I can't wait to see the big streamers drop in activity now lol. Yea, It's actually going to be hilarious. * - Formant - Jun 17, 2016 Welp. Here is the 36 page lawsuit. A HF member is one of the people getting sued. http://cl.ly/013D2U0t2U0C * - Wakka - Jun 17, 2016 Heavy shit is it just the companies that offer the services or the person responsible for using the service? * - patek - Jun 17, 2016 (Jun 17, 2016 02:11 PM)Formant Wrote: Welp. Lawsuits suck, praying for him. * - Payroll Giovanni - Jun 17, 2016 (Jun 17, 2016 02:04 PM)Riyu Wrote: Twitch tweeted out out the following "@Twitch Twitch are going to turn in to Blizzard games? Don't tell them i said that. They'll sue me. * - Riyu - Jun 17, 2016 Venue is proper in this judicial district under 28 U.S.C. § 1391 because a substantial part of the events or omissions giving rise to the claims occurred in this district. Defendants have repeatedly, knowingly, and intentionally accessed Twitch servers located in this judicial district without Twitch’s authorization to engage in the unlawful acts alleged in this Complaint. While accessing Twitch servers, Defendants made systematic and continuous contacts with this judicial district, and targeted their wrongful acts at Twitch, headquartered in this judicial district. This really sucks for him tbh. * - Formant - Jun 17, 2016 (Jun 17, 2016 02:21 PM)Riyu Wrote: -snip- Federal Trademark Infringement, Federal Unfair Competition, Cybersquatting, Computer Fraud and Abuse, Unfair Competition, Fraud, and more.. Some serious shit. "Plaintiff hereby demands a trial by jury of all issues so triable" edit: I've always been interested in how jurisdiction works in correlation with ecommerce. It sucks how they're getting railed by California law due to servers being located in Santa Clara. I know a bunch of these viewbotting sites aren't even based in the US. Being federally charged in the US as a foreigner is a big deal. * - Mr.Peanut - Jun 17, 2016 You don't see Twitch going after the steamers though. Then Twitch would be fucked lmao. * - Mr. Corleone - Jun 17, 2016 I don't understand Twitch at all. Viewbotting has been around for so long on Twitch, yet after all this time they take actions now? Why now? I still doubt they'll do much about this tho, twitch will definitely generate less money. |
