Oh shit, I just saw this. I don't fully understand it though. It's not really that different from buying Twitter followers, Facebook likes, etc.

Yea, It's actually going to be hilarious.
Welp. Here is the 36 page lawsuit. A HF member is one of the people getting sued.

Heavy shit is it just the companies that offer the services or the person responsible for using the service?

I don't want to invade his privacy and post his username, but it's not hard to find out on your own. If he wants to be known, he'll say something.
Lawsuits suck, praying for him.

Some serious shit.
"Plaintiff hereby demands a trial by jury of all issues so triable"
edit: I've always been interested in how jurisdiction works in correlation with ecommerce. It sucks how they're getting railed by California law due to servers being located in Santa Clara. I know a bunch of these viewbotting sites aren't even based in the US. Being federally charged in the US as a foreigner is a big deal.
You don't see Twitch going after the steamers though. Then Twitch would be fucked lmao.
I don't understand Twitch at all. Viewbotting has been around for so long on Twitch, yet after all this time
they take actions now? Why now?
I still doubt they'll do much about this tho, twitch will definitely generate less money.
