Enable 2FA for all members? - JohnAnonDoe - Aug 11, 2016 Just wondering why it's not enabled for all members. There's probably a reason behind it, but wouldn't the site be more secure, if all members had 2FA? (Might stop compromised accounts etc) * - minimalist - Aug 11, 2016 Quote: Protecting non-upgraded accounts is not a priority. And given the idiocy of the frequently lost Gauth/2FA I suspect I'd run into more problems than I would solve by giving non-upgraded members access. They'd just keep opening new accounts. Annoying and not allowed. source: https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=5137084&pid=49442804#pid49442804 * - Meow - Aug 11, 2016 Answer is kinda obvious and Minimalist already answered your question. If you want 2FA buy 3p1c and you are good to go. 🤝 https://hackforums.net/upgrade.php * - JohnAnonDoe - Aug 11, 2016 (Aug 11, 2016 03:28 AM)Minimalist Wrote: source: https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=5137084&pid=49442804#pid49442804 Okay thanks for the source. Call me lazy but I don't want to open a new page or check my phone (and have to bloody charge it) every time I want to use Hackforums. If I hate signing up on sites that ask you to write your password more than once, I'm sure others do too. Sure some people find it secure but if you take the right steps to keep secure, you'll be good. More problems occur with 2fa than they do with accounts being compromised here. "I lost my 2fa device" "how do i log back on i lost 2fa" How often do you see I was hacked? With the minimum password requirements, someone who knows how not to get infected should be good. Take this example: Another site forced 2FA on all users. They lost 8% of their mebers that week as most couldn't use anything that allowed them to use 2FA, and the other ones didn't like the fact that they were being forced into something they didn't want to do. The site lost members, revenue & stuff for a short while until they reverted the change. |
