Kernel Crash - Omniscient - Sep 16, 2016

We were offline today for about 3 hours because one of the servers crashed due to a kernel error. Investigating it now.

Unfortunately I was at lunch when I was being notified of the downtime and was not able to correct it remotely and had to do it from home. I wasn't sure what was wrong until I was actually in an SSH session and able to see what happened.

Truly sorry for that everyone. Sucks to have 3 hours downtime when the fix took me 30 seconds.

I will do my best to figure out the problem and take steps to prevent it from happening again.

Just a question sir. Do you have a office or something? Or do you always work with fixing issues and stuff like that from home?

I guess the world doesnt go under if we are without HF for 3 hours its okay.

The server that did crash hasn't crashed ever before. Hard to tell if it's going to occur again. Sometimes updates cause problems. The real bitch is troubleshooting a kernel crash and figuring out the exact cause.

Combing through logs now.

Glad we are back online. Thanks for the Update Omni. Was busy today so I didn't notice the downtime. I think we can all live three hours without HF. Glad everything is back and your working on this not happening again.

That's why I stopped eating KFC I never trusted the Kernel. Good job keeping on top of it the down was no issue for me!
