[Suggestion] 2FA - Obligation for sellers - Silver Fang - Oct 22, 2016

Topic, those who create selling threads must have 2FA enabled on their account.

What do you guys think? 🤝

Only upgraded members would be able to sell if that was the case. I don't disapprove but something would have to be changed in regards to regular members having the option. Unless Omni just required people to upgrade to sell, which doesn't seem unreasonable.

good idea

that would be nice

Then only for those who create thread in the premium selling section (as you have to be upgraded to post there)

I do not get it, why only sellers?

* - Egregious Jr. - Oct 22, 2016

No. Your account security is your own responsibility. If they wanna be stupid and not enable 2FA that's their choice.

it's common sense

for a user to conduct sales or handle any kind of money in the marketplace should require forced 2-factor authentication for two reasons

1) so that their account is protected by a second layer of security in the case of someone attempting to hijack their account and scam users

2) so that nobody can lie and say "oopsies got hacked sorry i didnt have 2fa i promise it wasnt me!!!"

bro that's like telling people it's their responsibility if they are hit by a wreckless driver but are law-abiding and careful drivers themselves

i think the bigger idea of the 2fa forced thing is not to protect the seller but to protect the customer

So nobody could hijack my account and scam just because I am not a seller?

Any account can get hijacked and be used to scam with. Does not matter if the hijacked account is a seller on the market or not...

well no shit

but if they were a seller they would be required to have 2fa on

so in the case of them saying "it wasnt me i swear!!!" 2fa would prove differently (excluding extremely special cases which would require proof)

as for a customer... it's up to the seller's discretion to sell to them

this system wouldn't prevent scamming but regardless the community would do better than worse with sellers being required to have an extra layer of security added to their account

If you use a strong password and don't use them cross-platform, there won't be any issues. And also, someone can get ratted, so it's not like 2FA helps everything.

it doesn't help everything but it's an added layer of security and still does more good than bad

Extra security literally never hurt anyone. It's a fair suggestion and would 100% be a good thing to have.

Not sure why Zack is so against it. Where's the harm in having more security?

* - FamousHater - Oct 22, 2016

actually only section should be demanded in is the CE so kids can stop using it as an excuse

* - crazylue - Oct 22, 2016

I'm a lazy shit and will never use 2FA, if it becomes required, then I'm done with this site
I'm probably not the only one too

Do you log out of the site every time you get off?

Otherwise its a 1 time, 30 second thing and you just stay logged in on that device. Even the laziest of people would admit it's a fairly easy task.
