Dell XPS 13 8GB RAM VS 16GB RAM. - OGHF - Oct 29, 2016 The laptop will be mainly used for daily activity, but some Visual Studio and Photoshop projects as well. So what do you guys think? Should I go for 8GB or 16GB. I already determined that I am going to need the i7 version but am doubting between how much RAM to get. Thanks in advance, 🤝 * - minimalist - Oct 29, 2016 Depends on how much more it costs. I know that Dell includes some proprietary parts so they may have soldered the RAM onto the board, making it harder to upgrade. * - OGHF - Oct 29, 2016 (Oct 29, 2016 05:56 AM)minimalist Wrote: Depends on how much more it costs. Currently the 8GB model is around £1200,- and the 16GB model £1429,- You are correct in stating the RAM isn't easy upgradable. * - minimalist - Oct 29, 2016 (Oct 29, 2016 05:58 AM)OG Wrote: Currently the 8GB model is around £1200,- and the 16GB model £1429,- If I were you, I'd go for the 8GB model. Or go for a different laptop * - karamay - Oct 29, 2016 As addition to what minimalist said, also think about resell value. It will be much easier to sell a laptop with 16GB of ram in a few years than it is to sell one with 8GB. * - Deany - Oct 29, 2016 Heard XPS have bad coil whine * - xvis - Oct 29, 2016 (Oct 29, 2016 06:02 AM)Japanese Wrote: Heard XPS have bad coil whine Just like any Dell machine. Always go for more RAM. * - Cxdde3990xc - Oct 29, 2016 I just want the Dell XPS 13 Developer's Edition so bad. But I don't think the developers edition has 16GB inbuilt RAM by default * - Deany - Oct 29, 2016 (Oct 29, 2016 06:03 AM)xvis Wrote: Just like any Dell machine. true, i don't fuck with dell * - Hakai - Oct 29, 2016 So to balance the opinions, i have a 16GB RAM DELL myself (not laptop) and if you are not planing to run BF1 + DOOM + FALLOUT4 while you code/design keep your 200£ * - OGHF - Oct 29, 2016 (Oct 29, 2016 06:04 AM)Ozz1 Wrote: So to balance the opinions, Thanks for all the answers! * - Cowardice - Oct 29, 2016 Go for more RAM ^^ It won't hurt you.
