Coming completely out of the blue, one of the most popular anime out there, Code Geass, is getting a third season. The article providing the information is in Japanese and it's 4am, so I'll post the best translation I can from the article which can be found here:

It is announced that the new animation "Code Geass Resurrection Lelouch" will be produced as a sequel to the series at "Code Geass" 10th anniversary event. According to the subtitle, that Lelouch himself is a complete sequel of the hero. A few years from zero requiem will be the stage. In addition, the theatrical version which will be a compilation from January 2017 will also be released in three part composition.Here is the graphic seen in the article:

My favorite anime is getting another season woohooo! However, the second season had a perfect ending to the series already, so hope they don't fuck with the show in weird ways. Can't wait tho

Code Geass is my favorite series but I am a little worried about how they gonna go through with this. The ending for R2 was amazing.....

This is fucking insane.... I really hope they don't ruin the perfection of the original 2 seasons... we can only hope the new 3rd lives up to the incredible genius of the first 2.

The original Code Geass was a masterpiece, and the way it ended was also very good. I don't know if they'll be able to make S3 as great as the 2 previous ones but I hope that they'll pull it off somehow.
