Coming completely out of the blue, one of the most popular anime out there, Code Geass, is getting a third season. The article providing the information is in Japanese and it's 4am, so I'll post the best translation I can from the article which can be found here:

Code

It is announced that the new animation "Code Geass Resurrection Lelouch" will be produced as a sequel to the series at "Code Geass" 10th anniversary event. According to the subtitle, that Lelouch himself is a complete sequel of the hero. A few years from zero requiem will be the stage. In addition, the theatrical version which will be a compilation from January 2017 will also be released in three part composition.

Here is the graphic seen in the article:

What do you guys think? Is a third season warranted? Would you watch it? Are you hyped?

[Armadyl]

yeah my friends were freaking out over this sequel

[Justinpk]

God damn it I am hyped I was so sure the announcement was gonna be a pachinko machine, holy shit this is great.

[Ρaragon]

omg this is the best news ever!
My favorite anime is getting another season woohooo! However, the second season had a perfect ending to the series already, so hope they don't fuck with the show in weird ways. Can't wait tho

[Null]

Best news in a while.
I'm so fucking hyped for this.

[Yuusha]

Very curious to see how they are going to handle it considering the way R2 ended.

[Elweth]

Time to rewatch the entire series and its movies.
Looks like my believe that Lelouch has both Code and Geass is right.

[Ililillillilill]

Wow, I've been waiting for a few years for this to happen. I'm excited!

[Chips Ahoy McCoy]

Weird, I thought the mangaka said that Spoiler (Click to View)Lelouch was actually dead, and would remain dead to best fit the story.
But nonetheless, i'm hyped.

[Esdese]

Still haven't seen this series, might as well watch it if it's good enough for a season 3

[Black Hole]

Just saw this on FB. Their Akito series really has not impressed so I hope we can go back to the grandeur and awe of the first two season.

[GroveStreetOG]

Code Geass is my favorite series but I am a little worried about how they gonna go through with this. The ending for R2 was amazing.....
This could either be really good or really bad.

[Mafty Navue Erin]

Just woke up and read that on CR. I'm having a heart attack.

[kpown]

This is fucking insane.... I really hope they don't ruin the perfection of the original 2 seasons... we can only hope the new 3rd lives up to the incredible genius of the first 2.

[Aura]

The original Code Geass was a masterpiece, and the way it ended was also very good. I don't know if they'll be able to make S3 as great as the 2 previous ones but I hope that they'll pull it off somehow.
