Cryptic/Armada Impersonations Master Thread - Cryptic™ - Apr 24, 2017 Well this has just been increasing more and more every month. I usually just update this post but I feel as though I should make my own thread for this now as everything is all over the place and I'd like to have data compiled in one thread that I can just update/reference each and everytime it occurs. Let this thread serve as a database. What is going on? There is a guy, or a small group of people that target people in the hacking requests section posing as myself or Armada. In many cases they pose as both of us, getting Armada to vouch for the "fake" me which is what happened here. One user that I know of that is 100% behind a large amount of these impersonations is https://hackforums.net/member.php?action=profile&uid=3334123 Why? https://i.imgur.com/ARlfko8.png oep6457 had a thread in the hacking request section asking for something to be hacked. The user I mentioned above sent a PM to this user asking him to send an email to one of his email addresses. A few hours later, oep6457 receives an email from "Cryptic" with this as proof making it look like it was actually the real me. Thankfully oep6457 was not stupid and PM'd me on site to make sure if it was really me or not. List of impersonations (A lot of the threads below contain a lot of the "fake" evidence these scammers use to convince victims that they are really me: Cheated by cryptic by under_taker89 [Community Alert] PSA: Scammers are getting SMARTER. You will always get some idiot lowlife with plenty of time on their hand and zero skills to make money in a legit way. There is, Omni added one FFS, still happens. My findings are in general the users that tend to get scammed are new users, usually posting asking for hacking assistance, and the promise of the job completion for money is made by the scammer contacting them. Theres points of note here to make. ALWAYS contact Myself or Cryptic on HF first, IF you are provided by a Skype by us in PM that is a different story. Do NOT assume we are going to randomly add you on to IM in any way form or whatever. I rarely ADD someone myself, people usually add me, and I usually deny the request. Secondly. THis seems to be a site feature many are not aware of. https://hackforums.net/verifysecret.php It generates a unique key between you and the other HF user you are dealing with. I KNOW Omni advises to not give out any part of this key to others, but I have found this to be a useful feature if providing a PART of the key to the other user and seeing if they can parrot back the remainder of the sequence of the key. Only you and the other user will know this key by this feature, thus if they can not repeat the sequence they are not the person they are claiming to be. But finally. PM US FIRST. I think we all agree getting scammed sucks, and its always going to happen, scammers are crafty, conniving bastards who need to all be fed cyanide tablets, but for the mean time, the best people can do is be on guard. FURTHER: This scammer likes to play on the fact they will be a "Hacker for hire" Neither of us have ever offered this service. And secondly, I HIGHLY doubt if either did, we would not be doing it for $100-200 bucks a pop. Lets be honest here, even assuming we were Hackers for hire. You think we would be willing to risk legal penalties for $150, or $50? 😧 We both own legit businesses.. If it seems too good to be true, it usually is. Always PM before dealing, ALWAYS. * - Lufasu - Apr 24, 2017 The funny thing that the impersonator isn't even talking like you both. He's like "yo yo yo its your boy cryptic/armada" and like "hey its me cryptic/armada trusted user from HF" Cant believe that people still falling for impersonators. * - Cryptic™ - Apr 24, 2017 Updates from the most recent scam: [email protected] <-- PayPal Posing as me [email protected] <-- PayPal Posing as Armada live:crypticvpn_1 <-- Skype posing as me live:cancelling <--Skype posing as Armada (Apr 24, 2017 04:51 AM)Armada Wrote: Secondly. We got played. It's kind of hard to understand but they took advantage of that and had me verify my secret with the victim. Basically the scammer talked to me posing as the victim, and the scammer talked to the victim posing as me and played us both. It was amazing and executed extremely well. Then you have retards 1 starring the thread because they don't have the ability to comprehend what just happened. 🤣 * - Armada - Apr 24, 2017 (Apr 24, 2017 08:22 AM)Cryptic™ Wrote: [Community Alert] PSA: Scammers are getting SMARTER. Thanks for keeping the community alert afloat. Personally i don't believe that such a "punk ass dick weasel" like yourself would be capable of impersonating anyone. If you feel like he's abusing the reputation system you can report it to staff and let them deal with it but you might want to read the Help Docs first (inb4 you get repfucked). Armada is known for jumping the gun and reacting impulsively over silly shit so no wonder hes all over the place when it comes to someone impersonating him. Did you try to talk to him (as hard as it gets once hes made up his mind) and prove him wrong? * - THC - Apr 25, 2017 Thanks for making the thread. Will hopefully keep more users from getting scammed in the future. Remember kids, make sure to use https://hackforums.net/verifysecret.php, PM on site before you deal, and look both ways before crossing the road! * - Adrian.Lamo - Apr 25, 2017 (Apr 25, 2017 11:39 PM)Malicious Intent Wrote: Thanks for keeping the community alert afloat. I have messaged him the message from reputation help page and waiting for 24 hours before I report to staff if he don't reacts on it. I don't understand why some people act so weird. I am sure he is not Bill Gates or Steve Jobs that someone impersonate him. None even know him in real world. Besides she works in VPN Stuff and I am working on pentesting. What profit will I get copying him. Anyways. Waiting for staff to act. Or I will deal with rep and move on. So deny it all you want, we know you are going to regardless. |
