AMA: Marine Corps Reservist - Root1337 - Aug 8, 2017 I enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2015, attached to a reserve unit. Legit ask me anything. Doing this because I had so many questions that went unanswered. If I had known what I know now I'd be in MUCH better shape career wise. * - SIM-3257834 - Aug 8, 2017 How are the crayon MREs? Does it come included with glue as well for fixing your thirst? * - Root1337 - Aug 8, 2017 (Aug 8, 2017 07:18 PM)ネクサス Wrote: How are the crayon MREs? Almost tastes like a crisp red Gala apple. * - Loses - Aug 8, 2017 I am going to talk to a recruiter on Thursday, what should I ask them? * - Root1337 - Aug 8, 2017 (Aug 8, 2017 07:40 PM)Loses Wrote: I am going to talk to a recruiter on Thursday, what should I ask them? I'll legit pay you if you enlist under my referral. (Give them my name when you enlist and say I referred you) Well it depends. Do you know what job you want? You're thinking about the Marines correct? Active duty? Reservist? * - Uncle Jody - Aug 8, 2017 Whats the craziest thing you seen happen so far. * - Root1337 - Aug 8, 2017 (Aug 8, 2017 08:08 PM)Ice House Wrote: Whats the craziest thing you seen happen so far. Most drills are Saturday+Sunday, some are 4-5 day drills. Once a year you have "Annual Training" or "AT," and its two weeks straight during the summer months, usually somewhere other than your base unit (i.e. California, Alaska, etc.) College professors are really lenient on giving you time off and allowing you to make up work (I think they're legally required even). I've never had an issue. Professors have always allowed me to make up work / reschedule exams. You get an "employee letter" from your unit pretty much stating you're on orders from X day to X day and can't make it to school/work. If you have finals and can't reschedule them you may be able to RIDT (Replacement of Inactive Duty Training) and essentially make-up the drill weekend you miss. It depends on your unit. Professors will make exceptions regardless. You also get to use a portion of your GI Bill towards school. (~$380 a month for school) (Aug 8, 2017 09:48 PM)Above Average Looking BLM Wrote: Did you go to Parris Island. I used to live like 20 minutes from their. I live in Arizona, west of the Mississippi, so I went to MCRD San Diego in California. (Aug 8, 2017 09:50 PM)Palmtr33fever Wrote: Do you have to travel away from home a lot? What is your yearly salary? We only really travel within the state. I live in Arizona so we train all around. Fort Huachuca, Navajo, Flagstaff, Page, etc. Once a year you have Annual Training and you 99% of the time will travel a bit. Our last one in June/July we went to 29 Palms in Southern California. You get paid per "drill." Each full day = two "drills." An E1 (Private) gets paid around $50 (after tax) per drill. So if you have a Saturday/Sunday drill weekend, thats -4- drills, and it'll be around $200. * - SIM-3257834 - Aug 9, 2017 (Aug 9, 2017 12:03 PM)Focus Broken Wrote: So I guess your thread should instead say "Ask me anything except about my bloodlust for invading the homelands of innocent people for mercenary gain." I see people don't seem to understand war casualties and actually specifically targeting the general population. TBH if a few have to die to ensure billions have a better and more secured life so be it. After all your country failed to do it's primary duty, to protect and ensure it's citizens have the best life they can have. Isn't that the core reason we elect people into office? Then again this Cali liberal is pro second amendment so I'm kill crazy tbh. Death hangs out with me daily. * - Riley - Aug 9, 2017 (Aug 9, 2017 12:03 PM)Focus Broken Wrote: So I guess your thread should instead say "Ask me anything except about my bloodlust for invading the homelands of innocent people for mercenary gain." who gives a fuck idiot stop jerking your dick off to some political shit * - Cagey - Aug 9, 2017 What's your MOS and you said 2015?
