I Need To Build A Site For My Blog - SIM-3051398 - Jan 30, 2018
So I have this idea for a blog type site. The site needs to be able to have a homepage which will show new articles written and new news that is trending related to the site, Needs to have easy use for the basic user. Would like if this was able to be mobile and desktop friendly. What would be the best way to make this site, I already have hosting that came with a cpanel along with the domain just need to know what would be the best way to make the site since im not very smart when it comes to HTML.

WordPress. Comes with thousands of free and paid themes, easy to manage UI etc.

It's all personal preference. Take a look at the themes tab upon installing WordPress, you can filter by downloads, reviews etc. That might point you to the right direction.

As mentioned, this is the one acceptable use case for wordpress or any bloated blogging software.

does wordpress give the ability to create sub-pages off of the homepage, along with the option to sign up for a newsletter? Sorry im really dumb ive never handled this part before.

So I have no idea, it's just a CMS so I imagine you can add that functionality. As for the mailing list, just use MailChimp or make your own system, not that hard.

Yes WordPress does give you this ability to do both of these but make sure you're installing WordPress from your hosting provider and not by going to WordPress.com.
Installing plugins (although I discourage it) is probably best suited for you.
