PC Running Slow / Infection Suspicion - The Melted Monk - Oct 31, 2018

I bought a laptop a couple of months ago from a person on craigslist. The machine seemed fine for the first hour or so, until I started using it normally. When I confronted the person, they told me that the drivers may need to be updated, and to do so. So I did. It has gotten better since then, but it unfortunately still seems off. During startup, it freezes and lags like no other. Randomly it will freeze up during use. It is a newer machine so there isn't a logical reason that I can think of explaining why it would be acting the way it is. I have done all to my knowledge that I can, and am now reaching out for further help.

Will you please rephrase your question? I guess I am unsure of what you mean by this.

Go to device manager and verify there is no conflict with any driver, like in the picture I posted.

Looks there are no conflicts.

Try running Malwarebytes and CCleaner

Hello there !

Did you checked the Startup Tab in the Taskmanager ?

> Type Windows Key + R
> Type taskmgr
> Click on "Show more"
> Go in the "Startup" tab

You maybe have some software launched at the startup of Windows which could be involved in your issue.
By default, lot of software are launched at the boot, like iTunes. And most of the time you don't need it and it can make your computer boot slower.

RE: PC Running Slow / Infection Suspicion - Sigma - Nov 1, 2018

  • Download the right version of FRST for your system:
    • FRST 32-bit
    • FRST 64-bit
Note: Only the right version will run on your system, the other will throw an error message. So if you don't know what your system's version is, simply download both of them, and the one that works is the one you should be using.
  • Move the executable (FRST.exe or FRST64.exe) on your Desktop
  • Right-click on the executable and select [Image: Spcusrh.png]Run as Administrator (for Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 users)
  • Accept the disclaimer by clicking on Yes, and FRST will then do a back-up of your Registry which should take a few seconds
  • Make sure the Addition.txt box is checked
  • Click on the Scan button
    [Image: KSJwAxg.png]
  • On completion, two message box will open, saying that the results were saved to FRST.txt and Addition.txt, then open two Notepad files
  • Copy and paste the content of both FRST.txt and Addition.txt in your next reply

Each notepad has too many characters to copy and paste in a reply. So I uploaded them here.

FRST - https://ufile.io/gplnr
Addition - https://ufile.io/867tx
