I bought a laptop a couple of months ago from a person on craigslist. The machine seemed fine for the first hour or so, until I started using it normally. When I confronted the person, they told me that the drivers may need to be updated, and to do so. So I did. It has gotten better since then, but it unfortunately still seems off. During startup, it freezes and lags like no other. Randomly it will freeze up during use. It is a newer machine so there isn't a logical reason that I can think of explaining why it would be acting the way it is. I have done all to my knowledge that I can, and am now reaching out for further help.

Go to device manager and verify there is no conflict with any driver, like in the picture I posted.

Hello there !
Did you checked the Startup Tab in the Taskmanager ? > Type Windows Key + R > Type taskmgr > Click on "Show more" > Go in the "Startup" tab You maybe have some software launched at the startup of Windows which could be involved in your issue. By default, lot of software are launched at the boot, like iTunes. And most of the time you don't need it and it can make your computer boot slower.

Each notepad has too many characters to copy and paste in a reply. So I uploaded them here.
