Revamp the Coding Section. - V For Vendetta. - May 22, 2019 I'll keep this fairly short. The programming section has many sections for languages which aren't used much anymore, stuff like lua, perl, delphi, VB.net (not really used too much anymore). I'd recommend a structure such as:
Thoughts/suggestions? RE: Revamp the Coding Section. - tweety - May 22, 2019 while you're at it, get some new moderators for those sections, especially the .net section yikes RE: Revamp the Coding Section. - Omniscient - May 22, 2019 Great structure. I'll think it over. RE: Revamp the Coding Section. - S2K - May 22, 2019 I like the web development section very much, it would be good that there are more spaces for nodejs and all major JS frameworks like that RE: Revamp the Coding Section. - ShinyThings - May 22, 2019 Very nice. It would still probably be beneficial to have an area for those not so used languages just in case someone starts looking for something specific RE: Revamp the Coding Section. - Maskin - May 22, 2019 (May 22, 2019 06:37 AM)V For Vendetta. Why did you put arguable on c++? RE: Revamp the Coding Section. - StarZ - May 22, 2019 Support. The .net section has become a cancerous tumor. Active moderators in those sections alone would help, but the restructuring is a fantastic idea. RE: Revamp the Coding Section. - kawaii - May 22, 2019 Hate to tell you but Perl is probably one of the top 3 most widely used languages still today, I think we still have the most questions on StackOverflow too. I don't see Perl at all. https://insights.stackoverflow.com/survey/2019#most-popular-technologies RE: Revamp the Coding Section. - Maskin - May 23, 2019 (May 23, 2019 06:42 AM)V For Vendetta. Some suggestions: Forgot about prefixes, definitely easier to keep the JS frameworks and mobile with prefixes. I guess could also add React Native / Xamarin as prefix tags. RE: Revamp the Coding Section. - Elitas - May 23, 2019 Nice, but I think all JS subforums can just be put under JavaScript, I don't think Vue or React alone would warrant a subforum. I think it'd also make them really hard to find as they seem pretty buried under that structure, but as a whole this structure could really benefit the section. I think the coding section needs to be revamped but I don't think there should be too many sub sections because the end up just not getting used. RE: Revamp the Coding Section. - Lante - May 25, 2019 I second the argument that there's no need to split up all the JS libraries. If you look at the list of widely accepted ones, you'll see there's too many of them to give them all a sub-forum, and picking some over others is discrimination. React Native, Angular, Material UI, Ant Design, Vue, React, Next.js, Ionic, Redux, Electron, Babel, Angular.js, ..
