Charging back a scammer f&f? - TheOwner - Jul 16, 2019

Hey so I made a deal with someone and they went ghost on me. Was wondering how do I go about charging back via paypal f&f. I don’t want to call my bank and dispute it that way I want to just settle it through paypal.

well paypal will be reluctant to help you as you abused the f&f option. making payments through f&f is stupid. it's against their policy.

You can still chargeback on f&f saying it was an "unauthorized transaction", usually you had to use a VPN to make the transaction though.

you gotta be more careful///////////////////////////////////////////

Calling your bank is the only option.

Unauthorised transaction only works if you used a VPN while you sent the money.

Call PayPal, ask for supervisor or call during USA day time. Explain the situation and they will make an exception if your PayPal account is aged and in good standing without any flags.

As I said, your account standing will come in play here. I have a legit business PayPal and have had it for over 12 years now, with clean record.

I hope you will be more cautious from now on.

Did you send the money through PP balance? If not call your bank and tell them you didn't authorized the transaction, you can tell them you fill a link that bank send to you for updating your bank account :))

Call them and say the following:

Hello,

I was dealing with an online vendor in attempts to buy xxxxxxxx. We reached an agreement on price, but the vendor insisted that I needed to send the payment as Friends and Family or else I'd have to wait an additional 2 weeks for shipping. I agreed to these terms and sent the money. Upon sending the money, the vendor went no contact. He stopped replying to me on site and through email, and blocked me on the instant messenger that we were using. I attempt to file a dispute on the payment, only to find out that I can not dispute Friends and Family payments. This appears to have been the vendors plan all along, trick me into sending a payment as Friends and Family only to disappear knowing I can't dispute it.

I'd prefer to not have to go through my bank to chargeback the funds, as it makes it harder on everyone. My money was stolen from me on the PayPal platform, can PayPal help me recover stolen funds?

Emails work too, but phone calls are faster and have a higher success rate. If a PayPal employee refuses to help you, thank them for their time and call back. Repeat until you find an employee that will help.

That's a nice and helpful piece of information .

this kind of works, mainly because of the fact that paypal fucking hates when people chargeback through bank / card, because paypal themselves are charged with a fee.

The only way to do it would be to commit fraud yourself, you don’t deserve your money back because you broke the policy and rules.

The only legal way to charge this back is at the bank level.

Next time pay correctly.
