Cell Phone Detector? - RektByFate - Aug 10, 2019

Anyone know any code/script etc etc blah blah blah I can run that I can use on my android to detect when a phone gets near me/give me basic info on it such as model so forth? I'm interested in using it for educational purposes for when i walk around in stores. Would be fun to see a list of cellphones with certain signal strength/model/etc based on how far they are from me.

Considering phones connect to wifi, why not set up an AP? Most casuals will leave their device name to the standard name.

You can't use a regular android phone to do a search for other phones since their chipsets don't allow that kind of functionality. However, you could easily get a HackRF or other SDR to look for cell phones.

Thanks, appreciate it. figured there had to of been something. I figured if there is a way for cell phones to give off a hotspot/ routers to give off a signal for their connection, then i am sure there would have to be a way to pick up the signal a phone gives off to check for networks, and then possibly take that signal and find out what kind of phone/etc it is like you can when a phone connects to a network.
