Building a personal website + blog for a beginner? - Approve - Aug 19, 2019
Hey guys,
Thought I'd come here to crowdsource some recs.
I'm interested in building a website to host my resume (formatted for web-viewing, not a PDF), some blog writing, contact options; generally, pretty basic text-based content.
What would be the best route to take for buying a domain, hosting, and then actually building (with no coding experience, nor interest in learning at this time)? Speed and cost are my primary concerns.

Thanks for this! I do have an edu email, but the process seems a bit too technical for me given time constraints. I have a $$ to spend and don't mind investing in this long-term.

IF you are looking for hosting and a domain I offer pretty affordable plans. We run litespeed on all shared servers along with cloudlinux.
You can also purchase a domain though us as well. We offer free domains with annual hosting plan purchases.
We also include CloudFlare with Railgun on our shared hosting plans. This is typically $200/month if you go direct through CloudFlare.
I would also be more than willing to help you out with getting started etc with getting a personal website started and help update it with you.

2. Connect it to some shared hosting. https://hostgator.com
3. Install WordPress on your new website. https://wordpress.com
4. Find a theme you like and install it. https://wordpress.org/themes/browse/featured/
5. Develop your desired pages/features.
