Where to find an active gaming community? - ProtoUltima - Oct 5, 2019 Hey all! I'm looking to become a member of an active gaming community. Games have recently become a big part of my life again and I'm looking to have people to play alongside on a range of different games. I have both ps4 and PC, so I play a variety of games. It would be nice to be part of a community that varies across different games also Hit me up if anyone knows of anything! Thanks RE: Where to find an active gaming community? - adrestia1105 - Oct 5, 2019 Greetings! Apologies if you've already used this, or knew of it but I thought it would be worth sharing. The subreddit /r/GamerPals/ is a great way to find smaller groups of friends for targeted games. I've personally used it a couple times in the past to great success. It sucks when a new game comes out or your interests shift and your friend groups don't play what you're playing. You can make your own little community of people you find for targeted games from this subreddit, or better yet I've received invites to multiple private gaming discords with a range of populations from 8 great friends to 30-40 really active people segregated by game based voice channels. Just a suggestion. Best of luck with your search! 🤝 Edit here's a link to the subreddit. Cheers, -adrestia1105 RE: Where to find an active gaming community? - ProtoUltima - Oct 5, 2019 (Oct 5, 2019 02:22 PM)adrestia1105 Wrote: Greetings! This is exactly the type of reply I was looking for, thank you! I have been using reddit, however not this particular subreddit. I'll give this one a shot now. If you know of any channels that you could point me in the direction of on Discord, I'd be appreciative of that also. RE: Where to find an active gaming community? - stavm3 - Oct 6, 2019 Depends on the game TBH. I have been a gamer since 1995 and based on my years of experience (Brag much??) I'd say you have to find the particular fanbase for the said game. Sometimes official forums are great but again, depends on the game. For example, official LoL/PubG/Fornite forums are breeding fields for trolls and you are better off staying away. For some niche titles, there are fan sites/communities. Some smaller steam communities are also great and welcoming to new people. Games with cult following also have absolutely fantastic communities. So be a bit more specific, what games are on your radar right now? In all honesty, I know some communities are going to be completely toxic online. However, I'm just trying to find an active community of people who play a variety of different games, so hopefully I can have people to play with most of the time and to keep me occupied with chat whilst I'm grinding out different missions. I'm thinking about setting up a Discord server - But are there not any gaming social media sites? I have to be honest with you, I am kinda old (early 30s) and I have not been playing hardcore in the past few years (I would play 6+ hours when I was in school/university and 16+ hours on weekends!). But, I think there are many good steam communities out there. There are many, many guides, groups, etc on Steam! If you find some like minded people then you can invite them to your Discord and create an awesome gaming of yourself! Please have in mind that the more competitive a game is, the more toxic the average person becomes! That's why games like CSGO and LoL are notorious. Based on my experience, players of these games are mostly friendly and welcoming, you can visit their forums and find members who are interested in other games. These games include: -Team Fortress 2 -Company of Heroes -Guild Wars 2 -Rocket League -Insurgency -Battlefield 2, the game is dead but there was a fan-made version name BF2 Revive. I think EA shut it down. Awesome people. -Older CoD games like CoD2 and CoD4 -Speed running communities (These guys are VERY friendly and welcoming) Cheers. Edit: I forgot Warhammer, Warhammer 40K and Total War communities. Also, there are many people in WoW who are friendly and spend month teaching you the game. RE: Where to find an active gaming community? - Deathiversaryy - Oct 7, 2019 discord servers, forums, lots of em like this but for hackers. RE: Where to find an active gaming community? - Hustla - Oct 7, 2019 If you play xbox there is many groups filled with like-minded people for each specific game. RE: Where to find an active gaming community? - ProtoUltima - Oct 8, 2019 Thanks to all the replies! I'm creating my own Discord Server to hopefully find people who are on the same path as me! RE: Where to find an active gaming community? - hanamura - Oct 9, 2019 this community had a PS4 and Xbox section that were active can anyone tell me what happened? |
