Hey everyone!
How it works:

I just thought I would share this chrome extension I have been designing for better half of a year. It is called Mediaflare.
It works by hooking onto special YouTube videos that are encoded like a puzzle, and applies JS and CSS to make it a fully formed frame. Check it out and give me feedback! I just updated it so it's not even laggy. Any feedback appreciated! Using big buck bunny, I have several YT links you can play with if you comment!

Just a heads up I don't think this is allowed on Hackforums. But the idea behind it is pretty fucking cool actually, all it would take tho is a Google Engineer to reverse your obfuscation process and it would be over.

Since I am using "Big Buck Bunny" this is legal and the tool is just JS, so it can't ever be taken down etc. Just need people to reupload. I can even place ads in the beginning lol.
The algorithm is just a 25 tile matrix shuffled and inverted/mirrored and color shifted, but it is computationally expensive. A report is all it really needs.
I want people to tell me this is a bad use of my time!

It's very laggy.
Nice idea but you gotta find a way to make people actually upload videos like this.

The description has a button for downloading the video youre watching to allow reuploading of mirrors etc. I have a tool that builds these files.
Was it really laggy? What kind of CPU do you have?

It's cool but pretty useless to be honest not to burst your bubble... You have to look into the possibility of changing resolution and right now it's very laggy, I'm on a mid-end desktop cpu from half a decade ago.

Alright, I know the 1440p version is resource intensive. It runs fine on 2012 iMac and 2016 Macbook Pro. JS is single threaded.
I am designing a performance update that should fix this issue if you can watch normal 1440p quality. The plugin forces the best quality and you can't change it after wards, that sounds like a bug I should fix! Thank you!
I updated the Extension, go and reinstall it (remove and download again)! This will allow you to choose qualities.
I see what you guys meant by laggy in 1440p.. the default is 1080p and works flawlessly :)

Hey, I updated the Extension, it was 50% slower, now it runs perfectly fine on old machines.
