How to wipe an ssd FULLY - TheTwitterguy - Dec 1, 2019 So. I heard DBAN is for hard drives only and does not FULLY erase an ssd? is this true? I need it completely wiped so NO fbi agent, family member or thief can recover it. I used parted magic in the past, just curious of possibilties, especially free ones. DBan I do indeed use for HDD of course RE: How to wipe an ssd FULLY - Legit - Dec 1, 2019 I would say the best way to make sure that no data is recoverable is to burn the drive, use a torch and just melt the whole thing down to a pile of plastic :) RE: How to wipe an ssd FULLY - TheTwitterguy - Dec 1, 2019 (Dec 1, 2019 10:36 AM)Legit Wrote: I would say the best way to make sure that no data is recoverable is to burn the drive, use a torch and just melt the whole thing down to a pile of plastic :) there's no other way? other than destruction.. Unless of course you pay for the premium version, Blancco Drive Eraser which can safely erase SSDs. Who is the SSD manufacturer? Most offer programs for there products that allow for secure erases on them. For example, if its a Samsung SSD, use the Samsung Magician software, it'll allow you to secure erase it. I know the following for sure have some sort of program. Just look for them on Google. Corsair Intel OCZ/Toshiba SanDisk Kingston Micron Another option is to use a free program called HDDerase.exe (command-line based). Secure erase only deletes the mapping table, not the blocks it has written data to. (Faster) Sanitize is when it goes through the data blocks and erases them as well as the mapping table. (Slower) If your SSD supports it, go with sanitize. But either option data won't be recoverable anyways. |
