If you think about it, people were always social creatures and if you stopped people from socializing then they would feel like they're in jail. But something changed recently and there's a lot of introverts now. I mean they were already a thing since long time, but it wasn't many of them at first, overall percent of population that are introverts kept increasing and now its quite high. Therefore I think you could say that introverts are product of genetical and technological evolution.

I think the over abundance of people and the lack of meaningful friendships are the reason why someone may rather be introverted.
Maybe It's just me but generally this is what has pushed me away from being extroverted.
Not enough quality and too much quantity.

This is nice way to put it honestly and I believe its true for me too to certain degree. Not only that, but also the fact that I don't really benefit, learn or make money if i meet with other people, but if im alone i can do one of these things or all of them.

Yeah being introverted introduces a live for yourself type lifestyle. I enjoy it.

What do you mean? I was always extroverted, so I that's my natural side. But somewhere I realized that spending time with people isn't as beneficial as being alone is. Not only that but also my interests and passions just don't require more than one person (me).

It's not a "today's society" people are introverts because they feel more than they speak, they think more than they say. The know more than they tell. Extroverts are just more out going, easier to "chat" with and in some cultures it's no good to talk much. Just saying.
Don't blame everything on social media, today's society or phones. People were strange, we are all different yet pretty much all the same.
