RTX 3080 bottleneck? - Dragon_One - Sep 3, 2020 Would a Core i7 8700K, 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM, and a PCIe 3.0 x16 bottleneck a single RTX 3080? Do I have to upgrade to the next-gen CPU's and chipsets when they come out for PCIe 4.0? RE: RTX 3080 bottleneck? - webdev77 - Sep 3, 2020 Nobody knows yet. Benchmarks not yet available. RE: RTX 3080 bottleneck? - shreder - Sep 3, 2020 I don't think it will be a bottleneck per say. But if you had a faster CPU you would get more frames of course. RE: RTX 3080 bottleneck? - Yac1ne - Sep 3, 2020 Wait for the 3rd party benchmarks, only then we can tell RE: RTX 3080 bottleneck? - bοxxy - Sep 4, 2020 I'm pretty sure PCIe is backwards compatible with PCI 3.0 and PCI 4.0, however, you would only get PCI 3.0 speeds while using a PCI 4 GPU and I'm not entirely sure if and how much it will limit your GPU/framerate. Here's an interesting video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HC8V4OauGk0 I guess we wait. RE: RTX 3080 bottleneck? - You Just Got Sarged - Sep 4, 2020 Nobody knows yet. Benchmarks not yet available from reviewers. We can only go off what Nvidia says which they said nothing about this yet. RE: RTX 3080 bottleneck? - Yunatic_500 - Sep 6, 2020 Yeah there's only 1% difference in performance if we compare gaming with PCI 3 vs 4. I hope there's minimal difference when the 3000 series comes out so we don't have to upgrade our CPU/MoBo. |
