The stupidest PC build you can make... And go. - Mr. Robot - Sep 26, 2020

Well decided to re-write this thread a bit. It's now color coded.

The do not fuck with me build, I will destroy you.
I don't give a fuck about being RIGHT at the top of the food chain but this still eats everything in a hundred mile radius
I need to upgrade my PC for a higher-end but still, relatively cheap performance build

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yRg8Rk
$15,093.89 not including the price of the 3090 GPU.
This bad boy has 64 cores and 128 threads,
256gb of beautiful RGB ram running 3200 for peace of mind. (would probably swap to trident Z royal but they didn't have prices)
103.5 terabytes of storage for all your porn needs.
A 3090 GPU for the sake of it, I guess you could go and do older cards as SLI or run a 3080. No biggie.

$4,783.12 (without the 3080 GPU which is about $700)
So what did we do?
We dropped the CPU down to the 3970, still an EXTREMELY respectable CPU - 32 cores 64 threads.
We dropped the ram down to 128gb.
We dropped the storage down to a still fast SSD/NVMe drive and kept 18tb mechanical for 19tb storage.
Changed the case out.
We could also make some other fine-tuning and probably get it down to $4k without the GPU while keeping the same speeds.

$2111.92 including GPU
This CPU was top of the line only a few years ago, it's still my main CPU build. 16 cores, 32 threads- absolute beast.
32gb of 3200mhz as the 1950x doesn't support 3600 or higher.
970 evo hdd incredible speed drive but to cut price down we went 500gb as your main boot drive and added a 2tb storage.
2080 supers - absolute beast cards, still better/equal relatively to a 1080ti.
If you are planning on doing any PC build whatsoever - I wouldn't recommend going for less than this. This would be barely entry-level to anything serious. This would let you comfortably not run into any issues for a long time until you are ready to upgrade further for the more enthusiast crazy kind of builds. In other words, if you are already using a PC and know you want to do more with it - such as spend at least 20 hours a week on it for gaming, youtube and whatever else don't go for less.

I was thinking of getting a new build with a threadripper. Might use yours :) The second build of course lol

I updated it a little bit, but now I feel like it needs to go in the computer building section.
It was a good lounge post beforehand - now... it's too high quality.

Even the cheapest option you introduced looks like a beast pc for the average user.

If you plan on spending less than that on a PC, just buy second hand junk. :)

Yeah, it's pretty much an investment. Spending less than that will result in more expenses for upgrades in the near future. Upgrades that are going to be costly and will eventually lead to spending the same amount of money after all.

Anyone got any new ideas for this?

I only had time to make one cause I'm tired.
It's not something too unrealistic either. I couldn't find a good PSU.

You'd already be paying 7kish for the CPU anyway no biggie
