Age gap - hayesh - Nov 25, 2020 I was reading a story about a 17 year who was arrested for sexual relations with a 13 year old.It didnt seem that big of a deal to me.What is your opinion?Should he be jailed for this. They was a 3.5 year age difference. RE: Age gap - Asgard - Nov 25, 2020 Technically speaking, the Romeo & Juliet law allows for a minimum of 16 to a maximum of 23 years old .. a 7 year age gap. However, in this situation, the particular individuals were 17 and 13.. 13 being the illegal of the two and therefore making it a criminal offense. What would seem a big deal to you? If she was 11? RE: Age gap - Black Whale - Nov 25, 2020 Nah bro a 17 year old shouldn't be doing that the maturity gap is way too far RE: Age gap - Asgard - Nov 25, 2020 (Nov 25, 2020 02:46 PM)Forensiccc Wrote: What would seem a big deal to you? If she was 11? That's a bit extensive, don't ya think? Lol. Come on now guys, let's be real. The fact that we're even having this conversation right now is a tad unsettling. I just think it's strange he doesn't see that as a big deal. 13 and 17 is a huge difference in maturity & mentality. Although I agree with you, the level of maturity and mentality would be much the same, imo. They're both teenagers.. pre-adults.. One just has a few more years of stupidity under their belt than the other.. that's all. Either way you look at it - it's wrong. RE: Age gap - Juoku - Nov 25, 2020 The thing with age gap is it mainly depends on WHEN. If you're 28 and you'll date a 34 year old noone bats an eye, but if you're 20 and you date a 16 year old it's not the same, it's all about mental maturity, even if someone seems mature for thier age they still make decisions they might and probably will regret later on, which is why this law was created. The USA doesn't have federal age limits does it? Isn't it different in every state over there? In the majority of the world the age of consent is 16. But sex education classes and parents should be teaching young men the age of consent in their country, jurisdiction or state. A 17 year old should also know that 13 is a baby really. RE: Age gap - Lyralei - Nov 25, 2020 Mixed opinions, I think it's a crime, but even if there was no manipulation involved, it still should be disallowed since the parents or the government usually has to take responsibility for people's mistake, as usual. RE: Age gap - Prawnster - Nov 25, 2020 Imo when ur like that age, you shouldn't mess with anyone who isn't like a year either way of your age, until your 19 or so (just my opinion) cuz at that age, people are at extremely different levels of maturity even in just a 2 year age gap. I am in the USA and this is where the Romeo & Juliet Law takes place most often. You're right, age of legal consent is indeed 16, however - at the parents discretion until they're 18. No I said around the world the most common age is 16. But age of consent around the world varies from 14-21 I think there may from memory even be a third world country which is still 12 which is terrible. Don't remember which one. One African country it is 21. Japan has a federal age of 14 which sounds awful but in the prefectures in Japan it's apparently usually actually 16. In the USA it's different in every state and the Romeo and Juliet Laws will be different in every state and some won't even have them I believe. I'm just going from memory when I looked this up on Wikipedia one time out of curiosity. And yeah I do think the 17 year old needs a charge. Unless he's intellectually handicapped or something. RE: Age gap - Mr. Atlas - Nov 25, 2020 17 and 13 years old the problem is not the 3.5 years gap it is especially that the girl is 13 years old ... she is still imature and easily influenced who knows if she really agreed or if he didn't force her hand if he had been 21 and she 16 it wouldn't have shocked me RE: Age gap - The Pact - Nov 25, 2020 Honestly it's hard enough to fight a man off at 19 let alone 13 so the idea of consent at that age is completely absurd and anyway it's never legally consent at 13. |
